Despite the fact that Fox News says there is a war on cops and the #Blacklivesmatter movement is encouraging violence against the police, it's actually one of the the safest times to be a cop in decades.

All of this fact-free fearmongering is having an effect. A Rasmussen poll taken last week found that 58 percent of respondents now believe there is now a “war on police.” Just 27 percent disagreed.

So let’s go through the numbers. Again. So far, 2015 is on pace to see 35 felonious killings of police officers. If that pace holds, this year would end with the second lowest number of murdered cops in decades.

Ok, so we know lawyers are whores who perform for whoever pays them but really:

Robert Rico, O'Callaghan's attorney, said he plans to appeal and ask for a new trial.

"I firmly believe the evidence presented by the prosecution did not show her force was unreasonable or unnecessary,"

A dashboard camera in a police cruiser captured O'Callaghan kicking the handcuffed Thomas in the back seat seven times in the groin, abdomen and upper thigh, prosecutors said. Thomas lost consciousness and was pronounced dead at a hospital.

Handcuffed and in the car?  That's unreasonable and unncessary, jackass.  Sounds like your client has anger-management issues.  Hope she enjoys prison.

Last I checked....everyone is more likely to shoot themselves than be shot by anyone else, by a -very- wide margin...and yet we still have this fear, and it's pointed to as a justification for police brutality and up-armament (and a whole host of other things) to no end.  People believe silly things for silly reasons? You'd think that the business of police work would be taken a little more seriously than to allow that into consideration...but it isn't, for whatever reason. I guess that's what makes it so disappointing, for me, anyway. I get that cops will always make mistakes, that some portion will be corrupt or inept - but the way we've ordered our system, at a fundamental level, positively encourages it, and we not only allow that, we solemnly bow our heads in support of it, in support of our "boys in blue", we "do it for the kids" and the dangers we imagine that they face. It's perfect stump-bait.
