Doctor Who, Season Nine

RE: Doctor Who, Season Nine
You're right of course. However, I think the intention is to suggest their technology has improved since the days of Tulloch Moor. I seem to remember a bit of handwaving about the humans being kept alive solely as an information source, rather than a body print. In both their nu-Who outings they've been shown to be able to morph even without the necessity of their human to be plugged into anything. Also it's worth bearing in mind that Broton and his crew were hiding in the Devil's Punchbowl for something like eight hundred years, after their homeworld was destroyed, so they probably missed a few updates.

The other Zygon wearing Osgood's face was "Bonnie" (perfect name for a boner, lousy name for a Zygon).

All in all I rather enjoyed the story. It wasn't without its faults, and some of the expository flashbacks got rather annoying, but on the whole I thought the good ideas outweighed the holes. Capaldi as usual was superb; the way he delivered that wonderful speech at the end was every previous Doctor at once.

One thing I'm not keen on is the Zygon actors faces so obviously being able to move around inside the costume. I know it's not exactly designed for ease of head movement, much like Batman's hat, but it just makes it painfully clear that it is a costume and throws me out of the drama.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

Actually, I forgot that the Osgood killed by Missy was disintegrated, so it could be either version.

(SPOILERS)

I tell you what though, I liked the first part more than the second, and the whole second part was just so blatantly political. Such parallel to ISIL as well - blowing up the plane, wanting to cause terror for the sake of war, etc. And yeah how nice that Doc and Osgood survived by parachuting out - but they didn't even hold a moment's silence for the plane's pilot/pilots, or the two crew members we saw handling the hostile Zygon on the plane (see screenshots below taken in flight 2 minutes before being blown up). Seems completely insensitive especially following a real-life air-plane bombing. The frightened refugee Zygon who is forced to commit Harry Caray after being unmasked by a "radicalised" Zygon. Doc telling Clara he's "old enough to be her messiah".

Why is there no retribution from the Zygons for Kate killing three of them in cold blood? I loved last week's episode where a SWAT team was lured into a church to their deaths; but like the other 2-parters the second part didn't have the punch of the first.

I don't think you've got anything to worry about. Every other time something similar to this has happened, for years now, it's reversed in the following episode. It's kinda one of my main peeves with the show currently: all big gestures with no consequences. Just hit the reset button, it'll all be fine and everyone will- functionally speaking- forget it ever happened until we need some shallow reference later on.

Steven Moffat finally reveals why John Hurt replaced Christopher Eccleston in the Doctor Who 50th anniversary special ... Link

"The first version was David [Tennant], Matt [Smith] and Chris [Eccleston] together. With whatever involvement we could contrive for the other Doctors, but – being brutal – it had to be Doctors that still looked like their Doctors. I know I’m a b*****d but hey, I think Peter [Davison], Colin [Baker] and Sylvester [McCoy] were better deployed in The Five-ish Doctors [a spoof short film] than they could ever be elsewhere."

Moffat goes out of his way not to mention Paul McGann who we know was willing to return for Doctor Who!

"Tom Baker, that was sort of awesome. That voice, unchanged since the 70s, those eyes, that smile – all back on the Doctor Who set. And everyone just standing there, staring. Like after all this time on Doctor Who, Doctor Who had turned up."

And yet no word on why he snubbed Colin Baker who was furious to find out that the other Baker had been offered a cameo and he hadn't Link.

"'We’ve just lost Clara, so I didn’t want to go straight into a new companion,' he went on. 'I’ll be honest, I brought River Song back in because I thought there was a possibility I’d never write it [Doctor Who] again so that’d be my goodbye.'" Link

Good, the sooner you leave Doctor Who the better.

Really? It's pretty much been confirmed she's in the finale, dead or not. There are billions of duplicates of her, so it could just be any one of them.

What do you mean by duplicates? If you are referring to a duplicate, then in reality is it not the true and original Clara?

She was duplicated countless times in the series 7 finale when she jumped into Doctor Who's timeline.
