Obviously not you. That is the mentality I have witnessed. Yes it is anecdotal. Sorry to disappoint you.

I didn't think you meant me, I just don't know who this made up group of people are.

My opinion:

Obviously no one deserves to get raped.
However if you purposely wear revealing clothes, you are increasing the chance of it. I'm not saying that's the way it should be, but the way it is.

I think people who purposely wear the most revealing clothes, though, and then chastise men who take notice, is absolutely distgusting.
Which is better:
To die with ignorance, or to live with intelligence?

Who is they?

You appear to be acting like a victim to me...
There are advantages and disadvantages to any gender. Currently I think the most discriminated against gender is transgender. The most oppressed (in my opinion) being transmen.
Acting like a victim over what? I'm not. I happen to hold transgender rights in very high regard.

Are you going to answer Losty's questions? Who, exactly, are "they"?

Rape is a touchy subject and I have witnessed first hand men get accused of rape, then have their accuser recant their accusation. It's a very difficult legal dilemma, unless there's physical evidence. I don't believe that there is a "rape culture", or a society accepting of rape. Who thinks rape is acceptable? That article is just an anecdote.

Driving a nice car doesn't mean you deserve to be mugged but it does increase the risk O_o

You do realize that men frequently parade around in nothing but shorts and they're not being raped left and right. If I can't walk around naked without increasing my risk of being raped then that is the problem.

There's also no detectable correlation between dressing provocatively and instances of rape. Rape is rarely about sex, and almost always about control.

Everyone looks.  I look at good looking guys and women as they pass me by, of course I do.

Anyone who says they don't are either lying or zombies.

But I have had guys walk up to me on the street, when I've been dressed professionally, and put their hand on my arse.

I've had a guy walk up to me at a party when I've been wearing a pair of jeans and a t, and grab my tit.

Try to touch and face the consequences.

The word rape culture alone is so absurd. Implying people go running around, acting like it's cool to rape. Nobody I have ever met has given me that impression. I think it's funny that people seem to think that people who rape, they're just part of the "culture". No, they're just psychopaths who don't have empathy. They don't care whether or not rape is wrong and I see absolutely no one who thinks that rape is acceptable.

People do though. You should have seen the comments on the article about that 14 year old girl who was raped by the prison guard. He said she seduced him. Everyone was going on about what a little tramp she was and how she deserved it.

If someone gets drunk and makes out with someone, many people think that means the person now has a right to sex. If you didn't want sex you should have thought about that before you got drunk and made out with your roommate's friend.

Rape culture is a very real thing.

Also, dismissing the rape of men is part of it too. People automatically assume that men wanted it and are therefore incapable of being raped. It's disgusting.

The term rape culture isn't about rapists. Rapists are monsters and psychopaths, most people aren't and would never be rapists. But rape culture is about a society of people who want to turn a blind eye to the victims or worse make excuses for the rapists. The boys will be boys mentality, and it hurts both genders when it comes to rape.
