Were they -both- shooting, the officers...I mean? Seen it happen, people do imagine firefights, particularly when someone other than themself is actually shooting.

Echo, reverb..one shooter can sound like many. It wouldn't surprise me -at all- to find that the officers mistook each others fire for incoming. Pretty sure that wouldn't make the scenario any better, ofc. Are you now..in this thread...doubting the depth of police incompetence?
