Work = video game money / investments / retirement

video game money = me happy

investments = me being extra happy later in life

retirement = enjoy the rest of life.

It's interesting that people are always planning for and sacrificing for retirement. At what point do you sacrifice current happiness for future happiness?

And one never does know until either it isn't or they die.
I think this explains the tendency to accumulate even after monte carlo analysis says it isn't necessary any more.
Sadly, that confidence is only probabilistic and dependent on future patterns in finance being similar to the past.
My strategy is to need little and try to maintain my independence through acquisition of skills, knowledge and equities.
I try not to worry about it too much.  A little worry is motivating, a lot is paralyzing.
So how, exactly, does God know that She's NOT a brain in a vat? Huh

I am not planning for retirement. I am attempting to make certain I at least have a roof over my head while I slave away.

Lol you know what? I just saw this thread, I clicked on the thread and...

The OP didn't load the image immediately. So all I saw was "The most commonly fallen for scam" and for a couple of seconds before the image loaded I thought that that was the entirety of the OP... leaving me to believe for a couple of seconds that the most commonly fallen for scam was getting scammed into clicking a thread only to be disappointed by time being wasted because all that was in the OP was the text "the most commonly fallen for scam".

Yes I am weird I know, I like self-referential humor Blush

Ugh, that's the upside of being seventeen. I don't really have to worry about the whole adult responsibilities right now. Slaving away for the rest of your life sounds awful. But hey, I got that to look forward to I suppose.
