OH MY GOD.

My line rate is 74267/25921 kbit/s, I've never seen it that high before. And I just clocked my net on Speedtest at 69 Mbit/s!!

The WIN/Gallup End of Year Survey 2013 found the US was perceived to be the greatest threat to world peace by a huge margin, with 24% of respondents fearful of the US followed by: 8% for Pakistan, and 6% for China. This was followed by 5% each for: Afghanistan, Iran, Israel, North Korea. -LINK

RE: Internet speed, 2015
Well, when iiNet sent me a new "free" modem it had a fault and would only attain a line rate of ~33000/23000 kbit/s - with the phones plugged in and unfiltered. Before that the line rate was about 54000/23000. Something like that. I unplugged the phones (as well as the dsl splitter/filter on the modem) and got about 71000/25000. So 74267/25921 may not be much of an improvement, but do bare in mind that iiNet advertises the VDSL network of capable of speeds of between 20-80 Mbit/s down and "up to" 20 Mbit/s up (Link).

I thought the UK had better internet than that, why's yours so slow? That connection speed is poor, even for ADSL1. Well actually it's about average for ADSL1, at least in Australia where it's designed to achieve speeds of up to 8/1 Mbit/s. But internet's expensive here, due in large part to the cost of the submarine cables (the only disadvantage to being girt by sea). A lot of foreigners just don't understand that. Europe is all connected together by land, and of course to Africa, the Middle East, and Asia - so between the whole of Europe they only need to share a few submarine cables to the Americas. We don't have that option of course!

0.30mb/s

ISP throttled me because i download around 500GB a month, what's the use of having an uncapped 4Mb/s account if you can't download as much as you want?
Also feel a bit cheated when i found out Mb stands for "Mega bit" and not "Mega Byte".How much is everyone paying for internet btw?, i'm paying around R600 ($36.324) per month for 4Mb/s Uncapped (excluding line cost).

Well there's no such thing as unlimited RW. What kind of internet do you have? 4Mbit/s download speed is average for ADSL1. But depends how it's designed, in Australia it's designed for a maximum of 8/1 (8 Mbit/s down, 1 Mbit/s up), if it was designed for equal throughput both ways the max would be 4.5/4.5 and the average could be something like 3/2..

I've heard about this, but Korea doesn't have this problem.  I'm running 500 Mbit (so 62.5Mbyte) speeds, though in reality I rarely get over about 40 megabytes / sec for long.  But the nice thing is I can do this all day, 24/7, all month and they DON'T CARE.  No limits, no throttling.  Nada.  Just porn porn porn until my hard drive explodes. ADSL, up is around 20-30kbps (when not throttled)
