Bit of a stretch. I for one wouldn't want to live there. Not because I hate it, but because it does fit neither my economical nor social situation. I couldn't afford a decent and secure living in the USA.
How much do you think it takes for that? I'm living on a pension from the USN, not a noted source for "Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous", but I'm quite content.

"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."

Ohhh, you're on fire Cath! He he! How's those cats going?
To scoobs.
Remember when I said, swollow some woo, swallow it all!
I think I've seen every conspiracy vid on the net as well as all the David Icke stuff.
All knowledge is good. But you need a baseline with which to compare things to.
Believing in a man in the sky is a faulty baseline to start with.
Once you're comfortable with that, everything seems logical by comparison.
Guess what? It's not. I watch them for amusement purposes only.
Catch.
No God, No fear.

But at my age you don't start anew. Not because I wouldn't want to, but because our working environments consider people having passed 50 trash. So, I would have nothing to take with me and hardly any chance to make enough to keep me afloat or to grant me a pension. Not to speak of social security, which, if I'm not entirely mistaken, only kicks in at 65 in the USA.

Not wanting to isn't the same as can't, but I get your meaning. I retired in '89, went to Uni and got my Masters, then piddled around since then.
And SS officially starts at 65, but you can start at 62 if you want to take a hit in the funds. I figure I won't live long enough for the penalty to have a net effect, so I got some extra money for three additional year. And my wives have always worked, so we're not doing bad.

And yet my aunt, having lived and worked in New Yersey for all her adult life - as a high school teacher - moved to Canada after retirement. Because of the health system. I believe it had something to do with the insurance determining which doctor you're allowed to see and what hospitals to go in case of emergency.

Clearly there are pros and cons no matter where someone lives. That doesn't make the USA a horrible place, especially when there is so much diversity here. If you've (in general) never had the opportunity to visit us, then quit assuming to know how terrible of a place this is. If it was as bad as you think, we wouldn't have thousands of people leaving their homelands and coming here for a better life.
I would rather live here than someplace that gets blown up, for example, because a cartoon was published about Muslims and there was violent retaliation over it.
At least I can walk down my street knowing I'm not going to get blown up by an IUD. I don't need to see military trucks from another country driving my street because my country isn't able to protect itself.
Yes, the USA could be much better than the way it is now, but it could also be a lot worse. I feel a lot safer here than I would if I had to live where people are in the middle of a holy war that has no end or a third world country with very limited access to healthcare.
