Who will be the running mates?

I don't think Trump's winning the nomination is even remotely a foregone conclusion. The party machine will pull out all the stops to prevent that, including a brokered convention if it comes down to crunch time. They know a Trump nomination is a loser in the general election. The real question for me is whether Trump reneges on his promise not to run as a third-ticket independent if he doesn't get the nomination. Regardless, he's fucked the GOP but good!

I'm still picking that empty suit Rubio to win the nomination through whatever chicanery the party bosses deem necessary. If that proves to be the case, his smart pick for running mate, in my opinion, is Kasich, who would bring executive experience to the ticket. Besides, the GOP would then sport a ticket representing two crucial swing states: Florida and Ohio.

Clinton will definitely get the nomination, and that presents an interesting spectacle. Will she move left with her choice for running mate to appease the Sanders supporters (I'm thinking Warren here), or does she go with someone closer to her ideologically, at the risk of alienating the most passionate wing of the party?

Not really. The Republican Party died a while back. Trump is the only thing that woke people up towards them.

I agree.   Then the only question is does he fuck them over by running as an independent?  It's a perfect storm for him.  He gets to continue shouting horseshit to his fans, he fucks the GOP up the ass and he doesn't have to worry about actually winning.

What makes you so confident in this?

He's too divisive to appeal to more than a segment of the population, and any number of establishment Republicans are already on record, saying he is a demagogue and an embarrassment to the party. They will discredit him any way they can (which might take some doing, considering how thoroughly he has discredited himself without somehow destroying his own prospects). The GOP may be on its last legs, and the past two elections have demonstrated to the few bright bulbs still left in the party that they really can't win nationally without strong appeal with women and Hispanic voters. Do you seriously think Trump will perform well with either group? Do you think he is likely to fire up the Christian social conservatives to get to the polls to vote for him? True, that group can probably be counted on to show up to vote against Clinton, but that's not guaranteed and hardly counts as an endorsement of Trump.

What I see happening is a shoring up of supporters in now defunct campaigns (some to Cruz, some to Rubio and damned few to Trump) in the coming days and weeks. Meanwhile, the establishment will wait this out until the primaries become winner-take-all-delegates affairs; then watch the PAC money start raining! I'll be surprised if Trump staggers into the convention with a lead.

I sympathize with your position, but you can forget about Sanders/Warren ever happening. There's no way Bernie wins the nomination, and, if he did, he would go down in flames as this generation's George McGovern. And this is coming from someone who likes and basically supports him.

I'd settle for a Clinton/Warren ticket, but I have my doubts about that even happening. Warren seems too smart to tie her political fortunes to the Clintons, and VP would be a definite step down for her in terms of actual political power. If I were a Warren advisor (assuming she even harbors Presidential ambitions), I'd tell her to play a long game and further consolidate her clout on Capitol Hill.

He is beating Trump by nearly 10 7 points.

That's because no one is taking him seriously yet. Wait till he shows himself to be a real threat to the GOP(beating Hillary). They'll drown his campaign faster than you can say President Trump.

It's not like I have a dog in this fight, exactly, but I would think you'd be better off playing it safe with Hillary then risking a republican win.
