I didn't vote, so I don't see the results. I didn't vote because there's no answer appealing to me.
For me it's as I said. Extreme caution advised, since it's a terminal decision that may be the answer to a temporary problem. Extreme caution also advised because I don't trust any industry or government with handling a life and death decision in a responsible way.
As I said previously, there's a regular suicide tourism going on to Switzerland, with different packages offered. Profit oriented of course. So, fuck that. Anyone profiteering of another person dying has an incentive to let that person die.

Thank you Losty, very well said I totally agree that we need to handle things better so things don't get to such terrible situations in the first place. We have a massive taboo about suicide, it seems.
18 people (42%) have voted option 1 so far. So that would be consistent, I would think, with letting someone jump.
I'm not saying what is correct and what isn't, just asking the question. There is no blanket right and wrong with morality, things need discussion.

I don't know. For me it's kind of a reflex to actually help when a person gets into trouble. Someone stumbling when the bus accelerates, stuff like that. I guess, you have to make a distinction between an intellectual position held in your comfy chair and actually witnessing a situation. I like to think, most people are better than letting shit happen with a shrug and a, well it's their decision, after all. Apart from that, in most countries there are actual laws against not helping people in need.
But how would you go about preventing people getting into that kind of situation? Ours is a pretty cold everyone for themselves society. The only positive to be said is, there are helplines, operated 24/7 by professionals. At one occasion, when I couldn't handle my own situation anymore, I even called them myself. And I would do so again, if the need arises.

I view it this way too

I think there should be some clarification of what the poll is about. What I think it's about (correct me if I'm wrong poll maker) but it's not about a person on the street stopping someone from jumping or would you personally allow them to kill themselves.
The poll is about the death with dignity act and the right to die. So I'm guessing in reference to option 1, it's not a case of allowing anyone to kill themselves by not grabbing the knife from them or letting them jump. You're asking should anyone be legally allowed to access euthanasia services for assisted suicide.
So in reference to option 1, the answer would be no definitely not. This would mean any emotional teenager who's having a bad week will have the right to go in and kill themselves in a clinic.
I voted for option 3, but I realize this would have so many complications. How will the medical team be paid? How can you hire staff who can relied upon to have empathy for the patients when you also have to hire people who aren't too troubled by the fact they will essentially become legal serial killers . Religious groups will protest, doctors will end up getting shot and so on.
Personally I wonder whether it would just be easier to do it the illegal way and take some heroin and use a double barrel shotgun Kurt Cobain style I think that's an option I'd take.
Are you ready for the fire? We are firemen. WE ARE FIREMEN! The heat doesn’t bother us. We live in the heat. We train in the heat. It tells us that we’re ready, we’re at home, we’re where we’re supposed to be. Flames don’t intimidate us. What do we do? We control the flame. We control them. We move the flames where we want to. And then we extinguish them.
Impersonation is treason.

I responded that no, it's not ok to allow people to kill themselves for any reason.
Where is the lack of reading comprehension?
Well if you didn't read anything at all but the poll, then it's just a lack of reading altogether lol. I don't believe that to be the case considering you started out saying its a lack of deep thinkers then after a few more comments added in that it must be a lack of thinkers instead. You read at least some of the comments and were either incapable of realizing that they agreed with you or you chose to ignore them because you love being a drama queen.
I have repeatedly affirmed that I haven't read anything but the poll results and the OP, and yet you keep insisting that I did.
You'll continue to play dishonestly no matter what, you think you're being righteous after all. I have no patience for such shenanigans, though. So feel free to talk about me - you won't be talking with me anytime soon.

No, I'm not. Perhaps instead of assuming, you could ask, without aspersing those who don't share your view? But no, you'd rather be an asshole (not "mean").
My view is decidedly more limited that your straw-man, but really, I don't care to share it with you. Your childishness prevents an adult conversation. Enjoy your superiority complex.

As for Rob's question, from the comfort of my chair I say "let them jump", but I'm subject to my instincts as well, and I might well intervene physically without thinking about it at all. I can't really say what I'd do.

Then you're speaking from a position of ignorance and should really shut the fuck up.

Rob: regarding the amount of involvement (stop or don't stop). Can I tell them that they are doing it wrong, they may not die and it will cause great pain? They may stop themselves. Of course I'd then offer to sell them my fool proof method.
All: why are people fixated on lethal injection/lethal medication. The prison execution system has demonstrated the inherent problems with using drugs. Also, failed overdose attempts. People seem to link painless with lethal medication administration. There are other ways that are painless and lethal, they are just not pretty. I don't think the person wishing to die would care, only those left behind.
Being told you're delusional does not necessarily mean you're mental.
