It means nothing. So I won't waste my time making up a story about how a murderous rampage was adverted by one citizen and his gun. Or about how a raping murdering home invader or street stalker was stopped cold by an armed woman.
Or about how you and your woman while walking down the street and have a gang of three with knives stop you and demand your wallet and woman for raping and all you have for defense is your hat.
I could go on all day with the stupid meaningless senarios.
I was actually presenting a situation that basically resembled some of the worst mass shootings in history. Vtech, Columbine, and Port Macarthur. And then adding into the equation if people decided they wanted to be armed on the day. It's not about goofy scenarios and you obviously didn't actually read it.

The logic you're using is a bit flawed. First of all, children will not be allowed to take guns to school just because of this law. So it's rediculous to say that the cops would just shoot everybody with guns. Secondly, known criminals are not allowed to buy guns regardless of the new law and if they do want to do harm to people than they're going to aquire one illegally anyway. It's called the Black Market. Thirdly, you don't need a gun to commit a violent crime and as always ..... Guns don't kill people - right wing, fundamentalist, god-fearing, sexually inadequate, brainwashed, open-mouth-breathers kill people.
More restrictive gun laws will NOT stop people from being mindless, miss-informed assholes who feel that they have the right to take another persons life simply because they have a differing ideaology.

Even if it's an effective scare tactic? Nukes are always aiming, and yet they instil peace. Aiming a gun at a thug could prevent any harm to both sides. You may open your jacket to show them you are armed. If you point a gun at anything it is for the express purpose of shooting it until it is no longer a threat. As a civilian, if a situation gets to the point where I am afraid for my life & need to point my .45 at you, then you are getting a trip to the hospital or morgue.
It's also one of the 1st things you'll learn during a gun safety course.

Looks like we differ a little.
I'd aim so not only to warn but to be ready to use it.
If I saw a horrible git raping a women, I wouldn't just show him the gun, I would aim it at him. That would be the warning. I won't lower it unless he either backs off/surrenders or it goes off. When it comes to the defence of family members, like say robbers armed with crowbars and knives, I'd be way more tempted to pull the trigger and with little warning. One loud verbal warning, after that, there'll be bullets flying. I guess it depends on the situation. If the threat is small/minimal, then simply displaying the gun would be enough.
Cops in the US aim their guns even at robbers who may not even be armed. Aiming, maybe not for the intent of use but for readiness of use.
I have after long thought, decided against lawful arming of guns. I seem to remember a time, a hundred years or so ago in London where everyone was given a knife to protect themselves. Murder was at an all time high. Crime sky rocketed with hundreds of stabbings. What's to say it won't happen again?
I vote no to legally carrying guns. We should remember the past and learn from it, so not to repeat it.

I have met plenty of female mouth breathers in my time and recently as well.
Me? I suffer from allergic congestion. So, I tend to breath with my mouth out of necesity, especially if I dont have my spray with me.
That doesnt make me a "Knuckle dragging mouth breather"..nope...just a "mouth breather"
