Slavery was a fact of life in those times. We find it abhorrent, just as they would find some of the things we accept as normal abhorrent. It's cultural. But then we're talking people of a culture and not God. (Where are babies bashed on rocks? I don't see that in the text you posted)
Jewish history shows them misinterpreting Gods will, according to Jesus, who interpreted it correctly. This isn't God acting. The people simply identify aspects of their lives in relation to God. God's influence is seen later as compelling the people to act fairly as he does with them.

Rational =/= altering facts

The OT was written by the Jews who at the same time describe God as just and loving. That should give you a clue about the stories content. They didn't think all that despite the observations they related, but because of them.

don't remember apologising. don't really see why i should.
i've put forward numerous verses which highlight several questionable morals within the book which you have said is true. yet you yourself haven't given me any explanation for the disgusting morals displayed in said book except from 'it was acceptable at the time'. i dont care what the fucking time was slavery, child abuse and genocide are not, and never will be acceptable.

Whilst his definition of faith/belief and mine differ, he is at least quite correct under his definition, and with minor altering correct under mine.
