For the first time in my life I am working for a place that gives me a paid vacation.

For the next week I am on vacation from work, paid in full (and by that I mean I am getting paid for not being there at work).

I worked for other places that would not provide this at all, and that is why I love where I work.

Oh, right, everyone with whom I work is swell.

Yeah, over here you get 21 days by law plus all the public holidays (or overtime/time in lieu) and Ireland is one of the less generous EU countries re holidays.

Sounds to me like you need to run for Prime Minister and get that changed.

Here is 22 days. With the weekends, it goes to a month per year effectively. This is by law, but there are companies that give 25 on their own accord.
