Hello my name is Ilias, i live in Greece and im 14 years old. Personaly i stoped believe in god since last summer. In what age did you realise God does not exist? do you think that if our society was stricter about religious beliefs we would still find out or its only a few illuminated that would find out anyway? I apologise for my bad english its not my mother tongue anyway

In what age did you find out god does not exis?

Hi T.R.A
I never believed in god, even at an early age. Even the religious indoctrination I received in school I could only ever view as fairytales. And since even in the most strictly controlled muslim theocracies there are many people that turn away from their religion I would say yes to your question. If you're not supposed to ride faster than your guardian angel can fly then mine had better get a bloody SR-71. Quote:In what age did you realise God does not exist? I never have. I began seriously questioning when I was 16. I was over 40 when I finally realised I simply didn't believe any more. However,I do not now nor have I ever claimed god does not exist, because I don't know for a fact that is true.I'm therefore only able to assert "I do not believe in God(s) due to lack of evidence". I apologise for my bad english its not my mother tongue anyway γεια σου Ti kanis?? Is about the extent of my greek Ilias. Hmm 14 years old?? That would be about right. You are now entering the pre-adult stage of your human journey. All is well. Around 40 something I came to the conclusion that this god thingy does not exist...period. There is no evidence to support this belief and quite frankly the more I learned about science (biology, physics and chemistry, astronomy and astrophysics cosmology) the more certain I became. You can thank the mass education drive of countries around the world who don't want to be seen as "ignorant savages" for more people losing their "faith" in the various churches. The global society HAS been very strict concerning religion...it has failed. I had one statement from a greek friend of mine who reckoned that "in greece..they think donkeys are high tech" I am certain he was just kidding with me. Your english is quite good...translators are great..yes?? Unfortunately it's the grammar that gives you away. English is a bastard of a language to learn.... even those born to it seldom master it.... so as to your question " only a few illuminated that would find out anyway" I think the answer is NO. Atheists have been around for as long as mankind has been able to think. "The Universe is run by the complex interweaving of three elements: energy, matter, and enlightened self-interest." G'Kar-B5
I was about 30 years old when I finally realized that God was made by man and not the other way around.

Kalimera.
I was 11 when I realized that nuns were largely full of shit. From there it was a steady revelation that all of them were full of shit. By the time I was 20 I had completed the journey that xtianity was total shit. It was not until I read Israel Finkelstein's "The Bible Unearthed" that I realized that the old testament was equally bullshit. AS that is the underpinning for xtainity and islam it seems that all of the angry desert god religions are mere human invention. Don't worry about your English. It's fine.
I havent ever believed in god or gods despite the best efforts of a sunday school.

At no time did I actually "believe" in any god. At the beginning, I accepted as plausible the proposition of the existence of some god, although the specific manefestations as was claimed by each religion that I was exposed to appeareed to me not only like superstition, but appeared like particularly forms of superstition that required rather severe intellectual laziness and psychologicial maladjustement to embrace. Later, I found that the god hypothesis is entirely a distraction, and is in fact without any reason for existence other than condoning those ssame intellectual laziness and severe psychologicial maladjustement.
In short, I cast aside the god hypothesis not because it has too many flaws, which it does, but because it is totally devoid of any genuine virtues.
I was raised without religion. My parents never explicitly taught me that "god isn't real" or anything, but I never went to church, I never read the bible(except when one was given to me by Gideon's at school :S), never learned about Jesus or Moses through them etc.
I started dating a religious girl when I was about 20 and actually started reading the bible. I stopped shortly after Exodus and was content with my apathetic position on religious faith. Fast-forward a few months I picked up The God Delusion after hearing good things. It cemented my position and found peace in the position of atheism. It felt like what Christians describe when they 'find god". Everything clicked. Haven't looked back since.

When i went to church i thought it was like a fairytale, not to be taken literally. When they started telling me this was meant to be taken literally when i was around 8 or 9 i just kinda...slowly backed away...then ran out of the church.
