I was at the Aransas Wildlife Refuge with a bike club once. One of the members thought they could sneak up and touch the tip of an alligator's tail.
I have seen many documentaries and shows on alligators and crocodiles and none of them come close to actually being there.
That alligator flipped around so quick, I expected a sonic boom. The biker got away by the skin of his teeth. We all had a great laugh at his expense. And no, he did not get the satisfaction of touching the alligator.
I have touched many alligators in my lifetime ranging from very tiny and adorable to vary large and scary. I think the tiny ones they're super cute. I don't like the big ones I've only petted 2 and both times I felt really terrified.

O_o
I'm not insane.
I was close to a lot of wild ones at the okeefenokee (that's incorrect spelling but I'm too lazy to look it up) swamp. I won't ever go back to that. Didn't pet any of those ones. Still have all my limbs also. Fancy coincidence.

Call me an overprotective mother, I don't give a fuck.
That's all there is in Florida - you'll have to stay in your hotel room!
I'm going to Miami Beach in a few days for a vacation and I figure I'll use it as an opportunity to show my daughter a healthy respect for Mother Nature - real nature with scientific knowledge, not Disney-nature where all the animals including alligators are smiling and friendly and any bad animals get their just desserts in the end.
I figure the Everglades might be a good place to get a healthy dose of knowledge

So you've decided to spend your time trolling as much as possible? You spend a lot of your time making personal attacks. Why is that? Are you incapable of reading comments that don't agree with your narrow view of the world? If people respond unfavorably to your initial comments maybe it's you who is doing the trolling. If you want someone to agree with everything you say talk to your reflection in the mirror.

You're actually really pathetic with this. I never have a problem with people disagreeing with me. But everyone can see what you're doing. You say shitty things for the sole purpose of stirring shit up. Even if you really believe that it's a nice story these people can tell later about their vacation (and I don't believe you do), you only said that because you're a dick and you like to upset people.
It's not a personal attack. It's my honest assessment of you. I see you on this forum saying shitty things all the time and it may or may not be how you really feel but you only say them for the intent of upsetting people. That is trolling. You're not a child, you know exactly what you're doing and why you're doing it and it's getting tiresome.

Oh yeah, no doubt about that. They're searching for the alligator that preyed on the child and they've already trapped and euthanized 5 alligators since yesterday. So - just desserts (in the universe of Disney-nature).
"Well they've never eaten anyone before" seems like a pretty stupid argument for not either blocking out the gators or telling people to stay away from the water.
