RE: So I'm about to get confirmed
damn, that's creepy
The granting of a pardon is an imputation of guilt, and the acceptance a confession of it.

*shudder
"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great

When I was going to be confirmed Protestant little over 22 years ago, I told my mum that I'm an atheist, and she sighed a little and said, come on, it's a family tradition and we've already decided on the cakes. Cakes are arguably the bigger deal in my family than religion. So I got confirmed, the pastor knowing pretty much what I thought of the affair, which made it kind of funny. No biggie, you can just do it if you want to avoid conflict. It doesn't mean anything after all - except that in some countries like Germany, you get automatically deducted your Church tax Smile
We'd have to know more about your background to judge whether rebelling is worth it.

goddam church tax. Being christened "Church of England" meant I was exempt from it when living in Germany because CofE isn't part of the cartel. When my wife was out of work, I had to pay *her* church tax for her! Tax on someone else's beliefs. Who would have thought?

Sorry, back to the thread. Get confirmed, then forget about it.

It does impact your life.

Now Jesus watches you in the shower...

Seems to be true.

It's too late. Like me the rcc will continue to believe you're a catholic no matter what, simply because you've been baptised. And according to rcc rules you can never leave.

Of course, what a bunch of geriatric paedophiles believe shouldn't really affect what you do or don't believe.

Like nibbling it out of a foreskin or something.

Wonder how many priests would take the church proceedings file home for closer examination ??

Actually a neighbour of mine got expelled from (private) school for sticking out his tongue with the wafer on it during mass. Disrespecting Jesus was the charge.

I wasn't aware transubstantiation occurred upon delivery of the biscuit to the oral cavity, I was under the impression it occurred as it was assimilated.

So, Jesus is right there in your mouth then?? Wow, so those engaging in communion can taste Jesus ??

I'm astonished !!

1) If your cute be careful ...

2) If you are an ugly bastard, you'll probably be OK ...

3) If the Priest is semi blind or appears not to be too fussy maybe stick with 1)
Religion is the top shelf of the supernatural supermarket ... Madog
