My dad's German. Therefore Germany recognises me as a German citizen. How do I go about making dual nationality official?

I still can't decide if this a good thing or a bad thing. I eventually came around to the status-quo and voted to remain. Tentatively pro-E.U.... But I have Italian citizenship (despite being born in England) so I can still freely move around the E.U. even once the U.K. leaves. Maybe it was better for Europe that the U.K. left because the U.K. is American government's voice in the European Union.
The E.U. has its issues but certainly the £350 million figure annoyed me. It's more like £190 million because of rebates and other things. Both sides lied during the campaign and it was hard to know who to trust more. But I do think there should be more emphasis on truly local government and greater decision making at the local level (less power centralized at Westminster) so maybe the result is a blessing in disguise and will bring the democratic change England needs. I hate the idea that representatives who are parachuted always know better than local people. However, I also agree with Tiberius that some referendums would be stupid to hold - like the tax example. There is more than a short term blip in the economy, and it really starts going down the toilet, then we'll know who to blame - and it won't be the immigrants: It will be people who voted to leave. But, who knows, maybe things will turn out better in the long term. The markets like certainty so short term losses are expected. RE: UK to leave EU

You may as well just renounce your British citizenship while you're at it. If only I should be as lucky. Being able to move to Germany anytime is my right as a EU citzen, but the only dual nationality in my case would be Hungarian. Not the land of my dreams as long as Orban's in charge. But at least it provided save haven to my parents during the war. I admit to be an asshole and a sucker for Schadenfreude. So, I appologise to my british friends here and IRL. But I'm laughing like a maniac while seeing the Pound plummeting and the stock market doing the same. Told you so doesn't even come close.
I am feeling sick. I really didn't think this would happen. I expected it to be close, but I expected it to go the other way.

I learned it the hard way, in our presidential elections, how fertile the soil for fear mongering really is. |
