They already called their international lawyers in to speed up the process. The 2 years are only on paper, but there's no precedent. What has clearly been underplayed is that the UK vote to leave the EU after 43 years is now the precursor to a minimum two years of exit negotiations, as the government will now seek to invoke EU Article 50, which is effectively the technical mechanism by which it will leave.

Which, as I said, is ignoring that there's no precedence and that there are already lawyers at work to speed up the process. This according to official statements from high ranking EU officials. Easily found on the news, btw.
