Don't plan on picking your cherries until they are offered. Might want to look at what the EU brass published within the last 24 hours. They already called their international lawyers in to speed up the process. The 2 years are only on paper, but there's no precedent. So, according to EU officials, the current sentiment is, chop, chop, get out, quick as you please, and don't let the door hit you.

2 years is a *maximum* that can only be extended by a unanimous vote from all other countries in the EU.

Dont let the door hit their asses on the way out would be apropos, if there were not good people there that don't deserve that. You know, the ones not dumb dnough to fall for demagogery.

Yes, I know. But I can be a chauvinist too, you know. When it's about not setting an example for our own nationalist shitheads to get some leverage. This has to be turned into an example. Painful as it may be for all sides involved. Otherwise the EU is a goner and it's back to nationalist bickering.

#nitpicking

Exactly! Our economy is already dropping because people are preparing for the change and then when it does happen we're fucked.

Quote:Mr Carney, the Treasury and a range of international economists have warned about this. Many Leave voters appear not to have believed them, or to think that they are exaggerating small, long-term effects. But there is no doubt that the Leave vote is a negative shock to the economy. This is because it changes expectations about the economy’s future performance. Even though Britain is not actually [going to] be leaving the EU for at least two years, companies and investors will start to move money out of Britain, or to scale back plans for expansion, because they are less confident about what would happen after 2018

Quote:What has clearly been underplayed is that the UK vote to leave the EU after 43 years is now the precursor to a minimum two years of exit negotiations, as the government will now seek to invoke EU Article 50, which is effectively the technical mechanism by which it will leave.

People never change their mind in the face of evidence. Sigh.

It's hardly nitpicking when not being in the EU was the crux of your argument!

Which, as I said, is ignoring that there's no precedence and that there are already lawyers at work to speed up the process. This according to official statements from high ranking EU officials. Easily found on the news, btw.

So, I can only repeat, don't plan on picking your cherries as of yet.
