I have been puzzling as to exactly why the Parliamentary Labour Party chose this moment to launch their coup against Jeremy Corbyn and just what explains the desperation to get him out last week. It can hardly be because of a European referendum where Corbyn's campaigning, although less than energetic, was arguably more visible than that of say the likely big political winner Teresa May?

I had a conversation on exactly this point with veteran Labour firebrand Dennis Skinner. He answered in one word “Iraq”. The Skinner line is that the coup was timed to avoid Corbyn calling for Blair’s head next Wednesday from the Despatch Box. Indeed many would say that when Corbyn stated that he would be prepared to see a former Labour Prime Minister tried for War Crimes then he sealed his fate as leader of the Parliamentary Labour Party.

Remember Blair has already seen the passages about him in the report. Indeed he has had months closeted way with his lawyers and spin doctors to determine his best lines of defence. In stark contrast the families of the dead will get but two hours of advance notice.

Why then would Blair decide to launch his pre-emptive strike if he wasn’t deeply worried about the Chilcot contents? What would be the point? Surely he would just have kept schtum and waited for absolution on the day.

I just thought I'd put up this video to show that there is another way of thinking about all of this. I don't want to spend the next however long angry with the other half of the country that voted Brexit, nor do I want to perpetually bring myself down by only focusing on the negatives of the situation we find ourselves in. Beauty - or finding fault - is all about perception and totally in the eye of the beholder rather than inherent in the object... that's the subject of this video. And incidentally, one of his anecdotes would make CL proud... when he describes the most beautiful shit he's ever seen... so perhaps with the right perspective, Brexshit can be the most beautiful shit I've ever seen   All joking aside though, I hope so.

There's an irony behind all of this. The ones being mislead into voting brexit will be the first ones to be fucked. There's no danger to the gentlemen clubs where Nigel, Boris and Dave will return to. But here's a clear and present danger for the working population.

Unfortunately irony doesn't go very far in politics, or with the people you're trying to convince of the point. If you're right in your prediction then I have to be blunt and say that I think the hardcore Brexiters will be the last ones to acknowledge the point, publicly or even internally... it'll just be blamed on something else and the connection will never be made between that and Brexit. Such is human nature when the heart rules instead of the head.
