The Un-united Kingdom is fucked now

Yeah, you know, earlier on I didn't find it necessary to point out the differences between Norway, Switzerland, Iceland and the UK. Since I thought it to be obvious that there isn't a blueprint of one size fits all.

Seems I have been wrong.

Are you being facetious or do you genuinely think any of this is funny? I understand your side won, but why is civil unrest a laughing matter? Surely you want everyone to unite for a better future?

I don't wish for civil unrest. It's not something I would particularly like to happen, but it might happen if the government turned around and ignored a win vote on a referendum. It might not happen on the other hand. I guess we're gonna just have to wait and see what happens.

That would be the preferable option, yes, but people will always disagree with each other.

Rioting is vile. I wouldn't understand it.

Have you ever rioted before? I went to the WTO protests/riots in Seattle in the early 2000s. It was pretty fun honestly. I didn't loot or burn anything, but I don't feel bad when a starbucks gets looted.

Riots can also serve an important function for marginalized communities. What about the riots in Baltimore in response to police brutality against the black community? Those seem justified to me. In fact maybe they are the best way to get attention for a cause. Also while non-violent civil rights movements are justifiably remember today, people often forget the massive amount of riots that went with them. I'd say I'm pro the occasional riot.

I don't really like violence or looting. Or police brutality. Or racism. I don't think any of those things are justifiable or acceptable.

OMG there are differences between the countries! Wow abrias, you are so smart to point that out. The UK is doomed for sure.

Well, too bad we don't live in a perfect world, huh?

While I wouldn't exactly describe it as the best way to get a point across, you'd be extremely angry too if the government ignored a referendum vote and you were on the winning side. Thankfully they haven't done anything that stupid yet.

I certainly wouldn't encourage rioting to be honest. Because that would affect local shop owners. It's best to take protests right to the governments doorstep.

But as I say, let's not rush into things yet. They've not ignored the vote and hopefully the negotiations to leave will begin soon.

I think it was a mistake.

But, in a democracy, you have to accept a vote.

The EU needs serious reform, as does the UN, but you don't pack a hissy fit and walk out.
