Quote:Uncooked rice can contain spores of Bacillus cereus, a bacterium that can cause food poisoning. When the rice is cooked, the spores can survive.

If the rice is left standing at room temperature, the spores can grow into bacteria. These bacteria will multiply and may produce toxins (poisons) that cause vomiting or diarrhoea.

The longer cooked rice is left at room temperature, the more likely it is that the bacteria or toxins could make the rice unsafe to eat.

Oh ok. I reheat mine but I don't leave it at room temperature I just refrigerate it after making it and getting out the part I'm going to eat.

I reheat rice all the time. It's not done me any harm so far.

I grew up hearing the same about potatos. I reheat rice, I reheat potatos, and I'm still here to tell the tale.

Actually I don't read any of the major newspapers. I just googled "Brexit" and one of the links Google gave me for recent news was the Guardian article about Boris. I found the other articles via that link.

I'm really surprised to be honest.

Many of us, peruse different kinds of media. My first point of call is always the site of our national tv station. They're usually pretty acurate, even more so when it comes to news from the UK, since they partnered up with the BBC some decades ago. If I want to veryfy some international news, I google it and use the more reputable media sites out there. Certainly not the Sun, rather the Guardian, the BBC or the Times. In case of American news, one of the major networks, but certainly not Fox.

No point in reading newspapers anymore, and most news sites don't focus on a broad spectrum.

I subscribe to a bunch of news subreddits and that keeps me updated with both international news, as well as interesting stories from places I've never even heard of.

I never knew that.  I've always reheated rice without any ill effects.  Some links give procedures for reheating rice but this one claims that it will flush your system out.  No more Chinese food.
