I buy refurbed camera equipment all the time. I can't afford anything else. I haven't had a single issue. If you buy from a reputable distributor, the quality is basically just like a shiny new toy. Everything is wiped, cleaned, reset, etc.

I did buy my laptop brand new, because I had the money and I wanted something specific that had come out that year for photography and gaming specs. But I'm down to buy a refurbed kindle/tablet/camera stuff.

Might I suggest a different tablet if you don't want to spend that kind of money? Did you say why you had to get that specific one?

If I'm going to get an Android product, it's gotta be from Google. My phone has been the best major electronic purchase I've ever made, and I think a large reason for that is the fact that the hardware is purpose built for the specific software. Like Apple with the iPad. It's just more streamlined and updates come to Google devices first instead of waiting for Samsung or LG to provide them OTA.

Con of not getting it:
1. Vacations suck. You'll go somewhere and think "I wish I was back home on a shiny new tablet." Then when you get back you'll be the same amount of exhausted as a work week does ya. Then you'll go back to work.

Pro of getting it:
You can still take the work week off and play on your tablet.
I can't remember where this verse is from, I think it got removed from canon:

I love my tablet. Samsung galexy pro. They make them in 10 inch, which are lovely but bulky, and the very light weight and portable mini which are amazing.

You can have mine when you pry it put of my cold dead fingers.

Oh, my hubby has the newest surface pro and now he uses it for pretty much everything except hardcore gaming. He swears it is just awesome sauce.
