Nothing to do with "hero worship", mate. However, it is the us against them attitude and always the victim that grinds my gears. All races have had their fair share of problems in the Western world, with regards to integration. However, instead of sitting on their arses all day crying doesn't achieve anything. If you want to be the best, then the onus is on you to be one of the privileged few. In England, there are large numbers of Indian Doctors and specialists, computer engineers who were brought up in relatively racist areas. They took their chances that were given and made the most of them. This paved the way for others to do the same, just like the Chinese in the United Kingdom, who are indeed as successful as their Indian counterparts. I am happy for them because they come from families where the father was either a bus driver or working in a low paid job. With that in mind, they cemented their place in English society and created a foundation where their children could be a success. All this in less than 100 years. In spite of the racism, in spite of the victimisation , in spite of the "privileged white population", they succeeded and became one of the "privileged population.

The UK doesn't exactly have the history or current makeup that the US does.  When's the last time you saw a burning cross?  The last time you heard elected officials talk about lynching a nigger to their respected and public constituencies? How good are you at politely talking down to minorities in a manner that makes them rightly fear for their life...and were you taught how to do so in childhood?

Those doctors of your's shouldn;t have -had- to overcome seemingly impossible odds.....that, right there, is the worst kind of racist shit. "Stop complaining, these darkies rose above."..that's not a testimonial, it's a goddamned indictment.

Honestly, stop...this is giving me white guilt. We've decided that lynching people, anyone really, just isn't kosher anymore...and yes alot of people have found themselves on the shitty end of the american stick, historically, but it's a simple fact that a particular minority population was -and continues to be- systematically oppressed far in excess of any other. For as long as that continues, so too will measures aimed at ameliorating that effect. This benefits other minority populations that have found themselves under the same sort of treatment...but by and large, just because of demographics....the narrative centers around two easily identifiable groups.

I don't need to talk down to anyone. I, for one am an immigrant in Paris and just like other "immigrants", I have to do what I can in spite of the odds. I integrated straight away instead of choosing the easy option i.e. going to a group of anglo-saxons and staying with them. No, I went straight in and decided to work hard, because NO-ONE owes me a f'ing thing. If I want something, I am not going to complain, I am not going to blame the "privileged French", people for not having what they have. And, I feel that having 6 promotions in 7 years justifies the idea that if you work hard, you can get somewhere....
