Is white privilege real? To what extent?

I said at the first post it's important to note that privilege by definition is an advantage that only one group or person has. 

That's nice, but unfortunately referencing a definition that's easier for you to argue inanity with doesn't speak to the conversation we're -ostensibly- having about white privilege, huh?  White privileges are those beneficial things taken for granted by whites that arise out of some confluence of the color of their skin and status as a majority group.  Not things that no one else has or, more accurately, can get.  I don't have to work at it...I don't -have- to be successful, or well educated. I was born this way, with these privileges, with greater opportunity...and I have to work even harder than a minority does..if I wanted to ruin that.

If you ignore that Asians exist then yes white people are the privileged ones who avoid prison the most.

I think that you'd be disappointed to find out why that seems to be.....because it speaks to white privilege, lol.

I "lost" in the comparison between blacks and whites because white people go to prison less than blacks, which is a point I have said is true all along anyway.

And looking at crime rate figures of black on asian crime vs white on asian crime, taking into consider population size I'd say white people are more amenable to asians than blacks.  And looking at black on white crime vs asian on white crime relative to population size Asians are also more amenable to white people than black people.

You mean, an aligned group....in which a considerable portion actually thinks of themselves -as- white...and which whites accept (even my unabashadly racist buddies think brown people are better than black people, and yellow people are better than brown people)...fare better than a group which both communally deride in a country wherein whites make the rules and run the show?  Wonder of wonders.

The definition of privilege doesn't speak to the conversation we're having about white privilege? I disagree.  I think white privilege must by definition by a privilege white people have.  If you want to talk about that then it's important to know what privilege means.

Correct so it's important to know what the word privilege means.  Which is why I don't understand what you have against me talking about the definition of the word privilege.

I agree that some people, sometimes benefit from being white in certain circumstances more than they would benefit from being any other race.

I said this on the first page, that under certain circumstances it's an advantage to be white.  I don't know how you can say I've been washing away something I stated on the very first post.

The "certain circumstance" in our discussion....is simply being born in the US, today. Under that circumstance, if you happen to be born white, you enjoy white privilege. Poor whites enjoy white privilege, rich whites enjoy white privilege. Law abiding whites enjoy white privilege, criminal whites enjoy white privilege. White privilege is ubiquitous....so long as you are white or taken to be white. Our prison stats show it, our economic stats show it, our social stats show it...there is not a single dissenting fact to the reality of white privilege.

So ask again, whether or not it's real, even -as- you concede that it is, indeed, real. Your bone of contention, is that you perceive it to be an attack on the white race. It isn't...and isn't that a deliciously skewed perspective on white privilege to begin with "hey, stop attacking the white race for all this preferential treatment!"......who cares if they -were-..it's not as if that attack will amount to much....because white privilege.

Asians earn more than whites, they're imprisoned less than whites, they're shot by the police less than whites, achieve more academically than whites.

So as a group white people aren't privileged in terms of earning money, being imprisoned, being shot at by police, academic achievements.

That pretty much is the sum of what I've been talking about that I think you disagree with.  The definition of privilege and how that relates to racial groups in the US.

I'll agree with white privilege existing in situations where it's been statistically shown that white people have an advantage over all other races which varies from situation to situation.
I don't have a problem with someone saying white privilege exists in a situation as long as they can show that white people have the advantage over all other races in that situation, ALL other races, not just black people.

White privilege doesn't mean that every white person does better than every x person. It has never meant that anywhere but your need for it to mean that, in order to argue against it. IDK what sense there is in referencing asians, because a-the truth of the statement wouldn't demonstrate that white privilege doesn't exist.. b, the truth of the statement is in some measure dependant upon subtle racism......and c, it's not as if this country is dominated by asian culture, asian police, asian politicans, or asian citizenry.

I didn't write the dictionary purposefully to suit my arguments.

I told you the definition of privilege, you can either say you disagree with the definition I've put forward or disagree with the statistics I put forward that Asians earn more they're imprisoned less their crime rate is lower their IQ is higher their academic achievements are higher than white people.

Why is anyone questioning White privilege, this thread is amusing, what you just said is embarrassing, you sure you don't want to just agree with me? It would save you some embarrassment lol! Suck on it white privilege deniers. Your points in this thread are confusing but I have no answer back when you ask me what precisely it is that are confusing. Hey Paul you have to go somewhere to be a minority (no I don't) I'm black and I've been racially abused where I live (my family has been told to leave the area and sell our house because we're white, I've been punched in the face and called white trash)

If you have a point that contradicts something I've said just point it out directly and I'll reply, you think privilege isn't an advantage that one group has then that's your problem to take up with the dictionary or perhaps I misread the dictionary?
