Knew this would be a Guardian opinion piece before I opened it. The headlines are just pure cringe.

Reading The Guardian is just as bad as reading The Sun. From one extreme to another.

Perhaps if the EU wasn't so unresponsive to calls for reform and renegotiation of terms of involvement people wouldn't have voted the way they did.

Wasn't the EU -particularly- responsive to the concerns and interests of the UK, relative to other member states?
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

Was it? What did Davey Cam get in his big 'deal' again? Remind me if you remember.

Relative to other member states too, I guess they were. They didn't give a shit about what the Greek's wanted did they.

I don't actually know the specifics, just the narratives we get on this side of the pond.  That the UK had a sweetheart spot.  What's a good paper to get UK news out of, in your opinion, btw?  The Guardian and The Sun being out.

The narratives are bullshit. The UK had a 'sweetheart spot'. Fucking lol, even remainers must scoff at this. We got outvoted on more issues than any other European country. We might be one of the biggest funders of the EU but we certainly have nowhere near the most influence.

In terms of newspapers, they're all biased to some degree. I just try to look at as many different sources as possible. I tend to watch more than I read, France 24, Euronews, Al Jazeera tend to be the most unbiased I've seen on TV. Particularly I found their coverage of the whole referendum much less biased than the BBC's. Sky never really give the full story and tend to show snipets of interviews here and they chop and change stories to suit the narratives they want to tell.

The Guardian though, I have to say, is the Russell Brand of newspapers. Their opinion pieces are lines and lines of pointless drivel using obnoxious language to give the impression of being intellectual when in reality, they are exactly what they say at the top of the page. Opinions. But the butthurt lefty hippies on my facebook feed lap it up and read nothing but then talk like they have an enlightened view.

Uh, went off on one there but I really can't stand the Guardian.

Well, you would have to take opinions of The Sun and The Guardian with a pinch of salt. The Sun is a newspaper from the right-wing working class, and the Guardian is a newspaper for the intellectual left-wing. Either way, it is difficult to get opinions on what is right or wrong. There are even some news stations here that highlight the plight of Palestinians and how they are being treated or how they have been bombarded, and at the same time, they forget the number of casualties in the Tel Aviv area of Israel. Or, in rap terms, it would be like someone from the East Coast expressing their opinion about how great East coast rap is compared to the west coast on a west coast forum.

It was. To the point of other members getting more and more angry over UK à la carte. That the benefits didn't land with the ordinary people is less the fault of the EU and more the fault of the national politicians.

It's George Monbiot though. Yeah he writes for the Guardian but he highlights lots of critical issues that get completely ignored by the mainstream media.
