What's that? More perceived racism where none may exist? I'm not saying it doesn't or didn't in this case, (I don't know what the man was thinking and neither do you), but jumping to presumptions is part of the reason we're in this awful race war to begin with.

Don't give Police officers any shit and it will go better for you. If she would just have been calm and polite I would bet she would have been given a speeding ticket, that's it. It does not excuse the cop but they are in control and I would guess a lot of them are insecure and need to push people around to make themselves feel better. manowar
Looks like his spell worked on someone after all.......

I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

Follow Up to #843
So, according to the cop union, he meant to shoot the crazy guy sitting there with the toy truck and just missed. Some fucking excuse. http://www.cnn.com/2016/07/22/us/north-m...index.html It is not okay to shoot ANYONE because you fucking feel like it. (July 22, 2016 at 12:10 pm)Minimalist Wrote: Follow Up to #843 That does not make the situation any better at all. And what's with this "Just do what you're told, and you won't get hurt" excuse? We have a recent story about a guy doing what he's told, and still getting shot. Some officers can't be trusted at all, whether you're resisting or not. Some of these people are just stupid, or unhinged.

Hell, sometimes the victims are doing exactly what they're told. Remember the guy who was asked for his license, then got shot while he reached for it?

Those tests don't do what we might think they do.....oftentimes they're looking for the polar opposite of who we might intuitively imagine them to be looking for.

I had a neighbor who was a psychologist and who had a contract with the county PD to evaluate potential recruits. One day over a beer he mentioned that he routinely washed out fully one-third of the applicants but, the rules he operated under meant that he could only reject the ones who were a 'clear and present danger.' He felt that if he were allowed to flunk the ones who showed tendencies of developing anti-social behaviors in the future it would have been 2/3. This was in the early 80's. He was primarily seeing alcoholism/ domestic violence / or potential suicides which were all present in police departments at the time.
So they can have tests and the tests can work. But you also have to determine the rules of engagement. |
