Oh wait, I missed the part where Jojo was male and there's a homosexual relationship at stake.
In this case, it's absolutely 100% mandatory to pry this guy away from the Christian influence, or things could get more than unpleasant-- violence could be a possibility, too.
No, fuck that. If you're gay, and your partner is moving toward an anti-gay ideology, you need to get a new partner. Run, don't walk.

Christianity isn't necessarily anti-gay...

No it isn't, not if it's LGBTI-friendly as it sounds to be. I don't agree that there's hypocrisy in "choosing what parts" of the Bible to follow, we all do that in every aspect of life, it's not at all unusual.

The WIN/Gallup End of Year Survey 2013 found the US was perceived to be the greatest threat to world peace by a huge margin, with 24% of respondents fearful of the US followed by: 8% for Pakistan, and 6% for China. This was followed by 5% each for: Afghanistan, Iran, Israel, North Korea. -LINK
"That's disgusting. There were clean athletes out there that have had their whole careers ruined by people like Lance Armstrong who just bended thoughts to fit their circumstances. He didn't look up cheating because he wanted to stop, he wanted to justify what he was doing and to keep that continuing on." - Nicole Cooke

Maybe not, but I bet Jojo's partner's "friends" aren't counseling him on how to have a fulfilling homosexual-friendly relationship with God.

Yeah, being a Muslim makes you live a lot longer in countries where you'll have your head cut off for not being one.

A fun fact is, according to a study theistic people had in general a bit lower IQ and according to other studies a higher IQ is linked to longevity.

Don't draw too much from correlations

It's so complex that drawing causation from correlation is a very tricky thing. I find it extremely hard to believe that "being part of a religion" could directly cause any actual change. By what mechanism is this happening? If someone says they are a christian, they are a christian. So what? There's way too many factors involved, not least of which the fact that most of the world is religious and often takes it out on the non-religious. And then you have people pretending to be religious so as not to be persecuted, so that messes it all up.
And it's all entirely moot, because you can't make yourself believe things. You could pretend to believe and declare yourself a christian/muslim/whatever; but if someone's going to tell me that is good for you (except to avoid persecution), I'd question their sanity.

lol no it's not that
Correlations about people and health more often boil down to other factors, like socioeconomic status.
For example, a correlation will show that people living next to power lines get cancer more than others. If you think that means power lines cause cancer, you're almost certainly wrong. It's because poorer people live near power lines (because they're ugly and nobody wants to have a power line in front of their window). Poor people tend to have bad health care, to eat a worse diet, etc.
So with religion/IQ/longevity, I can pretty much guarantee that the religion itself has nothing to do with anything.
