We have not stopped inventing gods.
What has happened is an evolution in religion whereby man has created Scientology. It is the next step up from Unitarianism and it will lead further towards ideals where groups of people are accepted into the same circle despite having differing religious beliefs.

I love that GIF. Who doesn't like Darth Cruise? lol
And while we are on the subject, why invent new gods when celebrity "god"/stars are proffered for consumption? "Secular" people often "worship" many things today that are not traditionally considered "Gods"...money, power, fame, rich/powerful/famous individuals etc.

I don't worship them either. Don't generalize.
I don't believe you. Get over it.

I don't worship them either. Don't generalize. Well of course you don't but look at the current cultural trends whether directly supported by mass interest or proffered by mass media for public consumption.
Without something of true lasting substance, what recourse do people have but to cling to the temporal icons offered in dramatic fashion?
There are always individual outliers and it's wonderful to meet you!...but the masses are not called that for nothing and herd mentality is evolutionary.

See, you are still generalizing, but saying anyone who doesn't fit your model is an outlier. Now I want your source of statistics on this. You've made a large claim here.
I don't believe you. Get over it.

If I were to create self aware beings knowing fully what they would do in their lifetimes, I sure wouldn't create a HELL for the majority of them to live in infinitely! That's not Love, that's sadistic. Therefore a truly loving god does not exist!
Quote:The sin is against an infinite being (God) unforgiven infinitely, therefore the punishment is infinite.
Dead wrong. The actions of a finite being measured against an infinite one are infinitesimal and therefore merit infinitesimal punishment.
Quote:Some people deserve hell.
I say again: No exceptions. Punishment should be equal to the crime, not in excess of it. As soon as the punishment is greater than the crime, the punisher is in the wrong.

No, I am saying there are general trends of group activity in a given populous and there are outliers. Bell curves. Do you want statistical evidence on the nature of statistical bell curves? We're getting seriously meta here...

No, I want the actual source data. Don't change the subject.
And yeah. I am convinced of your Poe status at this point. I'm calling it, everyone.
I don't believe you. Get over it.
