Heard about EpiPen CEO?

RE: Heard about EpiPen CEO?
Emp, why did you go to Mexico? You can get an MD to prescribe that here.

If you want to buy multiple dose vials of epinephrine and load your own auto injectors (convince your prescriber) you can and the cost is minimal comparatively.

However, that brings up a whole different set of concerns. Effective storage, sterility, training, accurate loading, ............ I imagine many physicians don't want go through the trouble and don't have the time to insure that the process is done correctly. The EpiPen is pretty much idiot proof. That's why Mylan thinks they have the market cornered.
Being told you're delusional does not necessarily mean you're mental.

Living in San Diego, it was just a cheaper option is all; and the auto injectors (non Epi Pen) weren't covered by my insurance, probably for the reasons you just mentioned.

Way to get the reader's attention Clap

I stopped right there, but it figures you'd be the one to defend this reprehensible practice.

The medicine it self still costs next to nothing, pair that with a cheap syringe and you have a solution that cost less than a 1/3 of what the epi pen cost before the price increase.

The media and spoiled or stupid parents are the only ones who feel entitled to the convince the epi-pen provides. I say F-u to those too proud to learn how to use a syringe. the creator of the pen should be allow to sell it at any price, so long as the base drug is still accessible and affordable.

Yo Fucknuts! I'm not a douchebag. Thank you very much.

If the cost is that expensive, my insurance company might decide that they are no longer going to pay for it. So if that happens, my life just became worthless to my insurance company simply because the drug company is too greedy to lower the cost to something reasonable.

It is a sad day when one's own life is threatened by the greed of a pharmaceutical company's desire to keep their bottom line full.

I wish I didn't have to depend on an Epi Pen, but my allergies don't give me any other option.

Same here.

See Aroura's response, you vile, awful...

On top of it, because of the growing cost of Epi Pens, I was going to Mexico to obtain epinephrine and syringes. When I came to Florida, TSA wouldn't let my epinephrine on the plane. What do you suggest one do in a situation such as that? And do you suggest I trust some stranger to administer a syringe full of the correct amount of epinephrine? When my throat is closing up and I'm panicking because of it, how do you suppose I'll administer my own?

What is wrong with you??

I have a list of things wrong with him. Let's start with he logs onto this forum and acts like a p.o.s. troll.

Fuck you. First off who gives a fuck, I don't care if it is the drug itself or the delivery device itself. There are drugs that are marked up in any case, and medical devices are marked up too. A fucking toothbrush in a hospital which would cost $1 at a dollar store gets marked up to 5 to 10 bucks. It is still bullshit overpricing for nothing but greed.

Most hospitals struggle to break even, although there are a few that make millions. You might also be surprised to learn that most of the money makers are non-profits. Articles on the subject are easy to find.

The toothbrush example is overly simplistic. Hospital pricing is extremely complex and has to do with the varying revenue streams. They typically lose money on Medicare and Medicade service and must raise prices to offset (would also include emergency services given free). The negotiations with private insurers work similarly to clothing retailers always advertising some double digit percent discount to 'regular' price. The fact that people actually believe the 'regular' price bewilders me. Same with jacking up the price on a toothbrush in the itemization you see. Insurance companies pay a negotiated percentage.

Here's a paper on the topic if you have the time and desire:
