I left a comment in that thread because someone posted that I had a falling out with their management team, which isn't the case at all. Also made it clear that we aren't interested in selling, lol.

Haha, recently? We helped them out a few years back when their domain expired and gave them a temporary forum to regroup while they renewed. I was almost in talks with the owner to buy their domain but the community decided to keep the site going.

I came here a few years ago because I was sick of the general assholery that happened regularly there. I would really hope Tibs' reply to a merge with them would be, "keep dreaming".

That's silly. You don't owe anyone an apology. If someone means something they should state it in an at least somewhat comprehensible way. The op, to me, was fine. Ark said things like "she may as well blame the sun for burning her skin". There's no amount of twisting that can make a statement like that acceptable in reference to a rape victim.

It was an extreme and unskillful example and the point I was trying to make is that rapists occur naturally and are a part of the environment around us. There will always* be those who are predatory to the public at large and rape is another form of stealing only what is stolen cannot be given back. It's energetic theft by physical breaking and entering another persons body.

There are reasonable precautions that can be taken to avoid getting burned and drinking/staying out too long is like reducing the SPF of your skin. Drinking for the rapist increases chance of solar flare which sun block won't help against.

It was a terrible analogy and unskillful presentation, I can imagine a reaction of "to hell with this asshole, I'll drink as much as I want!" and so the branch bears bad fruit with poisonous result, must be cut of and thrown in the mulch heap.

This forum ain't mine to sell. It belongs to the community, and as long as the community supports it, it will remain that way. I don't see a point in merging either. The two communities are very different, and the forum software is different too. Doesn't make any sense.

Yeah I had a chuckle at the thread myself, especially the takeover the admin duties part. Thankfully Tibs has made clear that he doesn't want to merge.
