Signs you're a fundamentalist Christian

RE: Signs you're a fundamentalist Christian
Quote:You might figure it out if you'd actually listened to what some Christians have said, who actually know the Bible.

"Knowing the bible" is about as useful as sifting through diarrhea with your fingers. Try reading a little science and history instead of that and you'll learn something.

Pretending that ancient goat herders knew anything about the world is simply stupid.

When I was young, there was a god with infinite power protecting me. Is there anyone else who felt that way? And was sure about it? but the first time I fell in love, I was thrown down - or maybe I broke free - and I bade farewell to God and became human. Now I don't have God's protection, and I walk on the ground without wings, but I don't regret this hardship. I want to live as a person. -Arina Tanemura

True, I just hate flunking your tests all the time. Then I have to go tell my pastor I flunked another one.
(Which would make him grin actually)

I've read more Christian and non-Christian history than anyone here probably. Which would explain why I, like the founders, I can distinguish between the Baby and the filthy religious bathwater.

Well they were mostly fishermen, a clue you haven't read much yourself. And skeptics have yet to explain how "goatherders" wrote similies as good as Shakespeare's, and more profound ones IMO.

RE: Signs you're a fundamentalist Christian
I have a heck of a time telling a fundy atheist from a fundy Christian.

Fundy Christians tell me to believe it regardless of the points skeptics have made.

Fundy atheists tell me to disreagard the logic used by believers like Newton, Bacon, Locke and the founders because "we say so."

Fundy atheists don't want anybody thinking for themselves any more than fundy Christians do. I really don't buy the claim that atheists are atheists because they think for themselves. That's a major overstatement. Why should I believe any atheist is smarter than Newton, Jefferson, Bacon or Locke?

Wrong, Rad. Again, this is what happens when you waste all your time reading that stupid fucking bible.

Ancient Judahites were pastoral nomads, goats and sheep with a few miniscule villages scattered about ( including "Jerusalem" or whatever it was called by the locals.) They also didn't sem to be particularly "Jewish" as we understand the term today.

Tell your pastor to go fuck himself and read some real history/archaeology. Then you'll find out how badly you have been conned.

Quote:The first book by an archaeologist on ancient Israelite religion, this fascinating study critically reviews virtually all of the archaeological literature of the past generation, while also bringing fresh evidence to the table. Though Dever digs deep into the past, his discussion is extensively illustrated, unencumbered by footnotes, and vivid with colorful insights. Meant for professional and general audiences alike, Did God Have a Wife? is sure to spur wide and passionate debate.

Bullshit!

Besides..this topic should be title.... "Signs that you are a fucking moron."
Quote:You claim that homosexuality is an abomination to God because it says so in Leviticus, but you ignore the other Levitical "abominations" such as eating shellfish, wearing clothes of mixed fibers, working on the Sabbath, eating meat and dairy products together, or touching a menstruating woman.

I have brought this one up as well to the idiots, and they say "hahaha...thats just the old dietary laws..and its the old testament. The New testameent says we can eat what we want."

Do these idiots not realize that not only are they pointing out a contradiction in the bible, but that they are also admitting that their "perfect god" is not so perfect if he changes his mind. So God says shellfish is an abomination for a few thousand years..and then...what..its no longer an abomination? Did god unabominate it?

Also, I find that hillarious..that eating steak with a slice of cheese on it is the exact same thing as a guy corn holing another guy to God. Or that eating shrimp is the exact same thing as working on a "special" day.. and that they are both the same thing as ghey buttsecks and touching your menstruating mother to Jehovah.

Man that Jehovah is a twisted prick.

RAD..is this your first time chatting with atheists?

BTW, the trials during "Voltaire's war," the French revolution, made the Inquisitions appear fair.

Have you ever noticed how atheists first they say we aren't following the NT, and in the next breath, that we do awful things? That's a logical contradiction.

English... you'll spoke it very goodly.

If they knew it as Muslims know their Koran, and still did violence, atheists would have a point. But that is clearly not the case.

Rad

Is there a point to this post?

hmm..lets see.

I think it is #3, #13, and #20

just randomly guessing, of course... but what do I have to lose?

LMFAO..so you think the characters in the books, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, actually wrote their own books? I dont know of one serious bible scholar who would agree with you. The conscensus of BELEIVING bible scholars is that it is unknown who wrote the four gospels, that it was common place to write a book under a famous name to "gather more authority" to your writtings, and that the four gospels show evidences that there was another book, known as the "Q source" that was cross copied onto the other gospels.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Q_source

As I asked before..is this your first time chatting with atheists?

I mean..I didnt even have to do any studying to flat out prove you an incorrect liar. Lets look at the book of Matthew intry on Wikipedia:

Quote: "Matthew" probably originated in a Jewish-Christian community in Roman Syria towards the end of the 1st century;[1] the anonymous author drew on a number of sources, including the Gospel of Mark, the sayings collection known as the Q source, and material unique to his own community

WHAT?!?!?!? The book of Matthew was written over 70 years AFTER Jesus's crucifixion? You have to be kidding...and they dont know the author? But Rad says the author of the book of Matthew was Matthew. But if that was true then how could he have written it 70 years AFTER the fact, much less why.

But hey, Im just a stupid atheist..Im not like RAD who actually has some knowledge in this field.

Better than Shakespeare?

ROFLOL

Thats exactly like the muslims who say the Quran is so poetic.. yet when I read it it sucked the cheesy end of a donkey dick in my opinion.

The bible isnt that much better..in fact as far as a literary work, I would have to give the Newtestament writters "below average" as they had the old testament in front of them, but failed to do their homework and created many contradictions between the new and old, as well as contradictions across new and new.

If Shakespeare wrote like some or ALL of the authors of the bible, then in my opinion we would have never known Shakespeare, as he surely would have never made it big..unless, that is, he could force his literature by sword point... which was the major driving force for the bibles popularity, because it surely didnt catch on popularly in and of itself, thats for sure.

If you're referring to Thomas Jefferson, you do know that he was an anti-theism deist right? In fact he edited his own version of the bible to cut out all of the crap he thought uselsess, which didn't leave much left.

That's apparently exactly what he thinks. I guess he can't figure out that Lucius and Marcus were common Roman names? I suspect few Galilean fisherman would have been so-named!
