What would you do with an empty church?

I don't know, I've never seen that. Is it a TV show, or a movie?
Topless bar.
Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former.

it occurs to me that the odds of a given empty/abandoned church building having been affiliated with the One True Faith are miniscule.
In fact, the odds would zero. Members of the One True Faith would have been richly rewarded and blessed and would have had no reason to leave. The granting of a pardon is an imputation of guilt, and the acceptance a confession of it.

Doing something like that to my old church has been one of my dreams for years. At least since I watched The Muppet Movie where apparently the Electric Mayhem were in the process of doing it to an old church. "It'll be so fine and laid back and mellow and profitable" indeed. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DNWx_RNMB10 Learning that Aqualung was apparently recorded in a newly-repurposed Church made the desire all the more strong. And visiting the Ryman (which started off life as a church and ended up as one of the premiere music venues in Music City) in 2014 only made the desire stronger. Hopefully, at some point, they'd collapse under their own weight and I'd have enough money to turn it into a club. And given how many albums have been recorded at the Village Vanguard, a club with a capacity of 123 people, I see no reason recording studio and jazz club need to be so discreet a set of categories. Shit, perhaps turn the Holiest of Holies into a small recording studio as a small wing like the Ryman had when I visited (and would you believe that my old Church actually stored some of their PA gear there?).

I saw VNV Nation there once.

This question is actually an answer to another question that has haunted me for years; "What shal I do with the drunken sailor?" Now I have a home for him and have answered both questions. Playing Cluedo with my mum while I was at Uni: "You did WHAT? With WHO? WHERE???"
I'd replace any pews with chairs and rent out the sanctuary as practice/performance space for bands. Probably could get a coffee shop/bookstore happening in there too.
Might be fun to convert the altar into a bar and have topless dancers on top of it.
