Why I Don't Want To Be An Atheist

Right? [Ahem] Is there a physicist in the house?!?

I don't pretend to understand enough of this stuff to fill the proverbial coffee cup (not even close), but it's pretty clear from the conclusion I quoted that the Nobel committee was well aware that the findings didn't necessarily rule out other theoretical possibilities to explain the data. But as Jor pointed out in one of her posts, the necessary basis for positing the so-called techni-Higgs particles is, at this time, purely speculative and based on mathematical models. Maybe the alternative theory is true, maybe not. The supposition that the CERN results provide direct evidence of Higgs Boson appears to be the one that most closely satisfies Ocaam's Razor but may yet be undermined by additional findings. As the Academy noted, further research is needed to winnow the theoretical possibilities.

I used to.  Not anymore.  Not text walls like in this thread, anyway.

I was thinking for the sake of the drichy one, but okay I'll pretend I meant it for me now.   Wink

That gave me a chuckle.
Have you ever noticed all the drug commercials on TV lately?  Why is it the side effects never include penile enlargement or super powers?
Side effects may include super powers or enlarged penis which may become permanent with continued use.  Stop taking Killatol immediately and consult your doctor if you experience penis enlargement of more than 3 inches, laser vision, superhuman strength, invulnerability, the ability to explode heads with your mind or time travel.  Killatoll is not for everyone, especially those who already have convertibles or vehicles of ridiculous size to supplement penis size.

Oh, I wasn't thinking about Drich at all. Hell, he referenced a Huffington Post article apparently without understanding what it actually said.  Rolleyes
