Should We Resist Trump?

That's not to say there aren't revolutions being worth it. The Fall of the Iron Curtain was kind of a revolution. A largely bloodless one, achieved by people who simply took the streets and faced the risk of being arrested or shot even. Martin Luther King's movement also was a revolution, also mostly bloodless.

What I'm saying, if something's not right, one has to be vocal. It's dependant on every individual's courage how far they are willing to go. What I resent is firing the first shot. Some of my ancestors actually fought in revolutions or against oppression taking over. Such as the Civil war of 1934 and later on the Spanish Civil War. One of my grand uncles was a Republican general there.

Interesting character actually. Union rep deputized to the War ministry during WWI, founder and organisator of the first Republican Austrian Army, later on all of the above.

You know, it's just a damn shame that we didn't resist him at the ballot box where the job could most handily have been accomplished.

Isn't there "We, the people ..." right at the start of the fucking American constitution?

Some folks have a very narrow concept of the word "we."

In order for taking to the streets to be effective, the people have to know why they are out there. There has to be something that affects them all and they have to be clear on what they want the government to do. It won't be enough just to let them know we are unhappy. We must also send the clear message that our unhappiness will be reflected in how we vote. Send letters to your congressman and in the midterms retain those who listened to us and oust those who did not

Based on his track record, here are 10 things Trump is likely to do that will affect us all irrespective of race.

1. As a real estate mogul he was annoyed that HUID fair housing policies required him to build affordable housing in parts of the city where he wanted to build high rise luxury apartments, hotels and casinos. As president he has promised to target HUD and get rid of fair housing. So if you don’t make a million dollars a year, you’re out of luck.
2. As a real estate mogul, he showed 0 respect for private property. He used the 2005 Supreme Court ruling that allowed big businesses to use eminent domain to push homeowners and small business owners off their property as long as the big business paid higher taxes than the rightful owners.
3. He built a hotel in Washington dc and filled it with products made in China. Is this what he means by putting America first?
4. He has shown the same level of respect for women as gangsta rappers. After 8 years of squeaky clean pristine behavior in the Obama White House some American woman have decided that it’s time to bring back the good old days when boys will be boys. I don’t listen to gangsta rap and I don’t want MC Trump Dog as president.
5. He has filed for personal bankruptcy 3 times and promises to handle the American finances the same way he did his own.
6. In his book The Art of the Comeback, Trump said he thinks we should use asbestos as a fire resistant material in public schools. He dismisses the health risks of this material in favor of saving the buildings.
7. As president, he will appoint an oil industry mogul as head of the Department of Energy, and rollback programs designed to protect the environment
8. He will use eminent domain to further reinforce the fossil fuel dependent infrastructure and eliminate programs for renewable energy.
9. He equivocates on moral issues and may or may not keep the promises he made to people who voted for him concerning abortion and gay rights.
10. As a real estate developer, Trump used his money to bulldoze over so many people that his talk about reconciliation and healing wounds is not fooling anybody.
The god who allows children to be raped out of respect for the free will choice of the rapist, but punishes gay men for engaging in mutually consensual sex couldn't possibly be responsible for an intelligently designed universe.

I daresay, you might find some unusual and temporary allies. He won't deliver on all of his promises and the bigot's response may just be along the lines of hell hath no fury.

I'd venture you'll find unlikely allies in any Trump resistance. He's a complete unknown given his flip-flopping style, and with the way the Republican establishment treated him one can assume they won't be asking him for autographs now that he's in the Whitehouse.

Yes we should resist him. Have you seen his top picks for his cabinet? Full of alt-right white nationalists and otherwise horrible people.

And if we were to listen to him, what is now considered center would become the extreme left, which is very dangerous. We can't really afford to give him any leeway at all.

Remember gay marriage was first legalized Hawaii under Bush's administration. And as for abortion, the man doesn't know whether he's coming or going. He went from being pro-choice to being pro-ofe in a matter of day because he believed that's where the votes would come from.   Instead of fighting the man, I think we'd do well to establish ourselves as a blocking block that he can ignore only at his peril.

Things Trump can do to those who resist him.
1. Use eminent domain to take all their property and give it to the big industries that support him.
2. Dry up their money in court fighting bogus criminal charges just like they did the Black Panther Party
3. Use the press to  discredit them in the eyes of their supporters
4. Eliminate funding of scientific projects

Think strategically. Resistance is a defensive strategy and no war is ever won defensively. They can hold to what they stand for and keep their missions in mind, yet set themselves up as a formidable voting block and see how fast he'll climb Mount Improbable.
Trump is not going after gay rights or abortion.

He is simply not going to appoint justices that will repeal the bann on partial birth abortions. The worst thing that could happen is that the abortion subject get De-federalize meaning it will be up to the individual states what they do with abortion which it should be that way and not a mandate one way or the other.

He is also not going after gay marriage. He is simply going to appoint justices that up hold the constitution as the founders indented it. Rather than hillary's ;living document' meaning repeal the bill of rights.

RESEARCH Trump Yourself. He has his intended goals for America on His website. Don't let the crazies do your thinking for you.

As a noble resident of Massachusetts, I feel compelled to correct this statement. Massachusetts legalized same-sex marriage in May 2004. Hawaii legalized it in December 2013.
