That's true. While I don't, my wife still gets a twinge of guilt now and then over not going to church. And I think the "you have to go to church or burn in Hell" dogma is what kept me going for a while when I was having serious doubts way back when.

If you believe in Jesus Christ as the resurrected Savior, you're going to heaven whether you go to church or not.
The granting of a pardon is an imputation of guilt, and the acceptance a confession of it.

One of my jobs is at a favorite restaurant on Sundays for church-goers here in Central FL. Tips are markedly more stingy, and people are markedly more ornery between the "I hope your day is extra- blessed"s and "God loves you"s.
