We should take all these borderline fascists on their own merit without dragging Hitler in kicking an screaming. To draw historical comparisons is just clouding the judgment. Yes, they are bad but they're bad for their own reasons. To make myself perfectly clear, Hitler was just another populous politician. Drawing from the prejudices and resentments of his time. That's the only similarity. And of course that everyone should take populists at their word. They will do what they set out to do. If they get half a chance.

I was just trying to give you a ribbing over this crusader persona you jump into every once a while. Stop with the persecution complex. I really don't care what you have to say. Sorry you get butthurt so easily. Do you need a safe space?

How many posts of mine have you actually read? Regardless, I'd need some specifics before I could even comment.

The amount of wasps in anuses seems to have increased and keeps on growing.
Slave to the Patriarchy no more
Your story matches a lot peoples stories I've heard. He will be a bully to the rest of the world, but we do have two countries that will bully him back. China or Japan will not be bullied by anyone. If he trys to give China a wet willy, China will grab him from behind, pull his pants down, yank that underwear up so high, then for good measure they will slap that fat stomach of his many times over till he cries like a little girl.

"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."

Not sure why he lumped me in there, though, but he has avoided explaining it. I guess he's just content to make snide accusations about someone and run away.

I think most of the tension on AF is usually due to atheist vs theist debates. But since the election happened, I feel there's been more atheist vs atheist tension than usual, especially among people who normally get along just fine. We're not used to seeing that, so it's just making people come off as grumpier and more argumentative than usual. That's my theory, anyway.

If it's about theists, it's about rightwing theists. The ones justifying slavery, rape and child abuse, just to name a few of the halmarks being obvious in various threads. It's actually pretty much the same with atheists. The only common denominator between atheists is disbelief. Other than that they can swing in any direction. And they are challenged accordingly. That's not new, it just happens more frequently due to recent events. |
