In muslims schools teachers beat kids and teach them hate toward non-muslims

My first primary school was officially Roman Catholic but I very much doubt the pupils were. In fact, I think the majority came from Protestant or non-practicing Protestant families including myself, which is something I found to be quite strange looking back on it.

No beatings or anything like that though.

The system of all religious schools is a failure. 1 fanatic would result from a sample of a thousand; beatings happen to cover up the failure in education. I always hear about "the school that nobody believes in it". Actually; all religious schools are that school.

It's hard or even impossible to hate all non-believers while you import all your products from their countries listen to their music; smoke "kaffir" tobacco; actually it becomes hilarious with time. 

The Janissaries are one fine example.

Banned in UK publicly funded schools in 1986, and in all UK schools by 2003. I would have been at school for a few years before the ban, but don't remember any of my contemporaries being hit, but I do have a vague recollection of my elder brother being hit on the hands with a ruler (although he went to a private school where the ban didn't come in 'til 1999 so possibly that's the difference).

Catholic schools where I live still deliver a stiff kick in the ass on a regular basis. I used to be a regular late comer in my school and our school principle a sister in the convent always gave me punishment. Sometimes made me kneel down under the sun on the sand in front of the school haha. She is most known for her

"Why are you late?"

"..sister the public bus was lat.."

"shut up! I don't want any reasons. Tell me! Why were you late?!"

"sister the bus.."

"I don't want any reasons! Tell me! Why were you late?!!!!"

Then she brings her bamboo cane and have a good beating for being late without any reason. A regular old nut case. God I miss them.

The fact that it's being done in a school setting bothers me. Yes, I do mock religious all the time (at least on some internet sites) and I see no problem with that. I would never do so in a teaching position, though.

That's by far the least troublesome part of this, though. The beatings and hate speech in that setting are so much worse and that's where I would put my priorities.

LOL, as an optimist, I think this would be a great time to be young.

What makes you think that?

I think the answer is contained in the statement, to be honest. But the trend on violent crime and conflict deaths is downward, the trend on global poverty is downward, the trends on medical advances and renewable energy are upwards; the rate of population growth is slowing down, etc. There are plenty of things to be bummed about, like climate change, extinction rates, ISIS, and Trumpism; but I think overall we're going in the right direction to be able to get on track.

When I was younger, it was acceptable to beat someone up if you found out they were 'queer', it was just common sense not to give one of your black employees a management position, when we got into a stupid war our losses were in the tens of thousands instead of the thousands, we had the draft, AIDS was a death sentence, and half the world was in extreme poverty. I remember double digit inflation in America. I remember three million people starving to death in Biafra.

So I'm optimistic and I think it's a better time to be young than it was when I was young. I'm a 'the glass is half full of water and half full of air' kind of guy.
