RE: Can someone tell me where in the 2nd amendment it says you can carry machine guns?

Thanks, KUSA, for the information on the term "well-regulated."
I had thought long ago that it did, indeed, mean well-controlled or something similar until I became better informed.
To all:
I think it bears acknowledging that the overwhelming majority of guns owned are never used in criminal activity or to kill a human being. While it is frightening to hear of mass killers who used a gun, the instances are rare. Much more common place are the killings done by those who illegally own a gun and who use them to commit crimes. But...since criminals by definition do not follow the law, any gun-control laws fail to work on them, unless they cause a bit of inconvenience.
The instances of gun-use for self defense don't make the news because usually nobody is killed and no crime gets committed, but they happen all the time.
We have witnessed historically and very recently what happens to nations when law-abiding citizens are deprived of the right to bear arms and we have learned of the desperate attempts of those so deprived to obtain the few fire-arms available to them.
Those of us who choose to exercise our 2nd amendment rights also know that a government bent on tyranny would be able to destroy us if they wanted to go that far, but would most likely consider such actions to be too risky.
Perhaps we should think of it like this; it is better to have nukes and never need them, then to need them and not have them. How would the history of our country in recent decades have been different if Germany developed the atomic bomb first? How would our current situation be different if Russia or China had the upper hand in military force and in nukes?
"If you want peace, prepare for war!" Original quote from Flavius Vegetius Renatus but often quoted by many.
That is the way to consider our 2nd amendment. Or not..if you choose to deny common sense and reality.
I fail to understand the knee-jerk reaction to viewpoints that differ from the Leftist/Progressive Agenda and nearly always reactions that come with personal insults. Does it make them feel better about themselves?
