Being non-binding and the fifth(?) vote, I'm not surprised the turnout was low. Why bother going out to a polling place for what is, in essence, an opinion poll.

Hey if only 23% get off their asses to vote they are well qualified to be 'Murricans.

But that's actually a higher than normal vote, in my recollection. I heard of one referendum that was canceled because nobody wanted to work on it, even at very good wages.

The first thing I would want to know about the Puerto Ricans who want the country to become an American state is whether they want to be Americans or Puerto Ricans.  If they want to become a state and continue waving the Puerto Rican flag then leave it alone.  If they want to strive for the interests of the US then we should take a look.

Correction! People like Trump and his GOP fuck heads don't want that happening. Mostly because that's a state that would vote democrat.
