Seems that Norway Gunman wanted to start a war against Muslims in the world?

RE: Seems that Norway Gunman wanted to start a war against Muslims in the world?
Well Skeptic I'm pretty sure we'd hear if Christians or Jews had pulled a 9/11, for example.

>Do you have statistics to back that up?
Look at the Wikipedia pages for Jewish, Christian and Islamic terrorism. Count the total deaths for each if you really want.

>A lot of acts of "terrorism" don't get the same press that those committed by Muslims do.
Do you have statistics to back that up?

I don't know why I'm trying to defend what I said from you, you've missed my point completely. People expected this to be a Muslim terrorist attack because most terrorist attacks are Muslim - whether the latter part is true or not has no effect on what people think.

I think the wikipedia pages are about 'terrorist' attacks conducted in the name of religions rather than the religion of the culprits. I don't have statistics to prove that 'terrorist' attacks by muslims are given more press coverage than non muslims so I'll give you that.

Are we really at a point where all 'terrorist' attacks are assumed to be committed by muslims?

No, but close, because the recent big ones were all committed by Muslims. And because of Fox news.

We have a lot of christian terrorists. They call themselves the 'real IRA'. They've been quiet for a while but are up o their old tricks again.

Funny thing is most of the terrorism in the 80s in the UK was financed by american irish groups.

You make a good point. The fact remains however that the most recent (and deadly) modern terrorism has been done by Muslims, which is why terrorism is usually associated with them. Sucks for all the Muslims who aren't terrorists, but that's just the way people's minds work.

Most acts of terrorism are commited by anonymous individuals. Ever wonder why that particular screw came loose and the person crashed into the pole? Heart

Just kidding. Terrorists are overrated and not as threatening as someone with a brain launching secret assaults upon you.

Terrorism is always wrong and it does not matter whether or not it is religiously "inspired" or for purely secular purposes.

We know well enough about Muslim terrorists, but again, perhaps the perceived threat from them is a little exaggerated by many people these days.

The abortion murders were religiously motivated acts of terrorism intended on stopping a medical procedure that fundamentalists Christians view as a sin. The same applies to Judaism inspired violence. There is no difference in principle between the mob assaults on Copts in Egypt and the settler assaults on Palestinians. The activities of militant settlers were inspired by Zionist philosophies which do not exist without a religious context to them. Hindus in India are just as guilty of terrorism against Muslims and populations who are deemed cancerous to their society. Furthermore, terrorism is not limited to religious people only as it is mostly influenced by an individual's mentality as opposed to their religion.

In the report below, you can see some of the figures, trends, and definitions associated with terrorism.

The chart may be incorrect, though. I saw the chart only on loonwatch but I didn't find it on the links that you provided. I cannot trust this information until further verification for this and a reliable source.

Edit: In addition to my previous post, I should also mention that most religious people are NOT terrorists (whether they are Christians, Jews, Hindus, Muslims, etc). They may be more prone to committing terrorist attacks in the name of their religion (as compared to non-religious people) - and it does happen - but this does not mean that such acts of terrorism are encouraged nor acceptable in the religion that they profess. That is an important thing to keep in mind when we're talking about 'religious' terrorism.
