Alas, I've pulled this conversation far away from the intended thread topic so I'm going to duck out. Feel free to have the last word.

But, you can treat others as you want to be treated. Which includes some tough love from a person who has been there, or a straight up boot to the ass when someone makes everyone a victim in a given situation by holding on to grief 20 years after the fact.

I certainly don't want to be treated as a victim and I am 100% sure anyone else who experienced this in real life does not want to be revictimized by those who mean well when they assign them victim status and pity.

your not off topic as this is about hate speech as well as film topics.

Is it really propaganda or hate speech if a given religion in fact prohibits their bishops from marrying, for instance, and another denomination correctly points to Scripture acknowledging married bishops ??

It wouldn't necessarily be hate motivating the disclosure, but perhaps just a desire to see more fealty to the bible and more folks eligible for Salvation.

I'd say all Christians are entitled to know which denominations are 'doing it right' and which ones aren't.
The granting of a pardon is an imputation of guilt, and the acceptance a confession of it.

I sometimes wonder how long belief in human dignity and inalienable rights will last apart from the religious culture that gave rise to those concepts.

I don't think they make any effort to get medical help, and they don't care much, because the top priority is to get him into Jesus camp. When he's dead, they coverted him just in time, and I think the black guy then says "Today is.a good day!".

Actually, the words used were: "What happened here tonight, is a cause for celebration. A short pain, but think about the joy in heaven." A bit worse, if I do say so myself.

And, for the record, with the question about how to respond to such films: Brad Jones' show The Cinema Snob, while usually featuring the sort of exploitation films the MST3K crew would consider too bad to feature, has recently (since November 2015) started to feature recent religious films of the God's Not Dead ilk and doing what I think is probably the best response to such films: taking those films and calling them out on their bullshit, and bear in mind: he has a big background in religion (in his recent Christian Mingle: The Movie review, he states he has 12+ years of experience in Christian education), so he knows what he's talking about. My personal favorite moment comes in his Last Ounce of Courage review, where he calls out the protagonist's claims that towns would come under fire for putting up Christmas decorations by going outside to show THE DOME OF THE ILLINOIS STATE CAPITOL DECKED OUT IN CHRISTMAS LIGHTS. He also does this when the movie bemoans a lack of Christmas music on the radio (he points out there are two stations in his range that were, at that point, playing Christmas music 24/7.)

You can see them (well, most of them, anyway) on his YouTube channel: Stoned Gremlin Productions.

On top of that, there are quite a few other Christian propaganda pieces on Another show of his called "Dvd-R hell." He even wrote and starred in (but NOT directed, oddly enough) a movie making fun of the same religious films he reviewed called "Jesus, Bro!" That one you can't watch for free, but you can buy it. I sure did, and if you've got a high tolerance for low production values (mostly a shoutout to the low budget of the films he's taking on and partly a result of a budget of about 50 grand) and a yen for making fun of those shitty movies, get the DVD. I did.

If you really believe that, you are completely mentally retarded. If you're just trolling, eat a necrotic dick.

WTF? That's not what we're talking about, where'd that even come from?

Doesn't matter what the interpretation is or whether they're playing it fast and loose, it's still hate speech when they say we don't have morals or deserve to die or burn forever. At best it's insulting that they think we're idiots for not believing or seeing 'reason'.
Religions were invented to impress and dupe illiterate, superstitious stone-age peasants. So in this modern, enlightened age of information, what's your excuse? Or are you saying with all your advantages, you were still tricked as easily as those early humans?

Nope those concepts are human concepts that have fuck all with believing in magic bullshit . The world does not need your religion and is better off without it.

Now get back to pleading to the sky . While the world leaves you and your superstitious idiocy  behind .

No, no, let him explain how dehumanizing homosexuality and the institution of slavery is compatible with inalienable human rights and dignity. Should be a laugh riot.

I'm a big fan of religions competing in the marketplace of ideas.  Tell me how your faith is less fucked up than the Mormons, for instance, and how you cherry pick scriptures 28% less than those slacker Methodists !!!

Yeah, thing is, they do, and every last one of them completely misses the fucking point. So many different denominations (and even non-Xtian faiths) have films made promoting theirs and shitting on alternate interpretations;, alternative religions and of course non-believers. On those occasions where it's not blatant hate speech, it's just inane and piss-poor apologetics.

So, just lie down and take it? Or does anyone have a potential solution to propose?
