As some commentator noted, this whole thing stopped being about statues when scumbags started parading around with swastikas.

I don't think the existence of these statues is a problem. The real problem is the display on public land, which makes it seem like these figures should be heroes. Move the statues to a civil war museum instead so people will shut up about the historical significance argument.

I wonder how many of the "concerned " southern patriots will pony up the money to preserve them on private land . My guess not one of them will spend a dime . It's never been about the statues it's just an excuse for racist assholes to act like racist assholes

I just don't think we should get into the territory of forcing towns to take them down by law, I like what is happening right now, towns standing up and saying we don't want these.
