I'm just disappointed that Alex Powell hasn't revived the Northampton Clown to tie into this film.

That said, he has responded to the film. Before:

Quote:IT tonight!! Better be good otherwise I'll have to get my old costume out! 🤡

And After:

Quote:IT was almost a masterpiece. Wasn't as scary as IT should be but there are more positives than negatives. Must see! 4/5. 🎈

Can't wait to see it! Love the book.

I agree that it wasn't as scary as it could've been. That said, I'm rather difficult to scare when it comes to films. I have a weird sense of humor about gore. You can get a little jump scare out of me now and then, but that's just a cheap thrill. The cool effects and the look of Pennywise made up for the lack of all-out horror.

Scariest thing in the film? Bev's dad.

I know that sort of thing doesn't transfer well to trailers, but the story's strong enough that I'll keep my wait-and-see outlook and hope for the best.

IT in this adaptation is very fangy and monstery, more so that the previous movie, however it makes sense in the movie, he only really bares his fangs when he's about to eat someone.

I'm not sure what the sick humor you speak of is about since I haven't read the book, but I think the character in the movie definitely had a sick humor side to him. He was creepy as fuck too.

I loved the movie, and I don't like horror films generally, but this was one of the best horror movies I've seen in a long time. There's a specific part at the beginning with Georgie which I was not expecting at all, and (as Shell will confirm) I audibly said "Oh my god" in the cinema because it surprised me how fucked up (in a good way) it was.

Nope nope and nope.... I would not ever walk into another movie theater again if that happened to me. I hate clowns. Murderous, zombie looking clowns are included in that list. That shit freaks me the fuck right out.

On an semi-related note, the same son who's reading the book is also going to Field of Screams next weekend with his other mother. He said he already has a plan in place to interact with the actors there.

I am so glad I'm not going. That's another nope on my list of things I'm never doing.

Hard to scare me after twenty years in the Navy. And surviving my childhood.

I saw IT and I loved it.

It was one of the scariest movies I have seen in a while, scarier than the Tim Curry original.

What I couldn't get over was IT's total and complete villainy. He had no redeeming qualities, and really no signs of warmth or affection towards any living creature. All he wanted really was to hurt, scare and kill the children of the town.

Ramsay Bolton is a recent monster of modern media. He committed all kinds of tortures. However he at least loved his dogs and felt some flicker of affection for his murderous girlfriends.

IT was a villain unlike most others, exceeding Javier Bardem's Anton Chigurgh and Heath Ledger's joker.

It's only motivation appeared to be total malice and total cruelty (Best evidenced by it's apparition as Georgie.)

If Christianity is right and the Devil is real, he is very much like IT

Europa! Can you start another thread please and thank you?
"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."

I haven't seen it (saw the original...ugh...) but it's rare to see a Stephen King adaptation done well. I don't see why it's so hard to translate from the page to the screen when the source material is often so good (if a tad too long-winded sometimes). Glad to hear one was able to impress in the way that so many others failed to. I did like Thinner even though almost all of the older films of King stories are awful, and liked The Mist a lot (haven't seen the new TV series, just the film) even if the ending was different than the novella, so maybe I'll check out It sometime. I don't have any friends who've seen it (we're all waiting for Kingsman 2) so I have little to go on as far as recommendations but this makes me want to consider it. I usually like to read the book first but never got around to that one (intimidatingly thick for when I was in middle school), same thing with Dark Tower, only I was sure as hell not going to start that one since it's an entire series.
Religions were invented to impress and dupe illiterate, superstitious stone-age peasants. So in this modern, enlightened age of information, what's your excuse? Or are you saying with all your advantages, you were still tricked as easily as those early humans?

There is no better way to convey the least amount of information in the greatest amount of words than to try explaining your religious views.
