We watched it over the weekend and I liked it as a movie but it wasn't very scary. My husband made it seem like it was terrifying. Note I have not seen the original but I think it's just because I'm not afraid of clowns. It WAS gory though which is not really my thing so I looked away a lot.

I agree that it wasn't very scary, but a TON of other people found it terrifying, so I guess it must have been at least somewhat scary.

I think it's my favorite movie of the year so far.

I hadn't read the book and I don't get into scary movies (too predictable), but that one was pretty damn good. Still didn't think it was too horribly scary, but it was really good. I'll get the dvd when it comes out.

Sunday morning must be the ticket to a little peace. Our show was packed, but we went opening weekend. It's still killing it at the box office.

Is this one better than the first one? As a general rule I love Stephen King films... I think my favourite was Needful Things... but I thought IT was absolute shite (the first one I mean)... it was too surreal and didn't make any sense. Is this any better in that regard... actually have a storyline you can follow? Wink

I have the first one on DVD. It's tough watching it, it slogs. This one gets to the meat of the book.

Cool... in that case, I'll give it a go since it has such great reviews on here. I haven't actually read any of the books... or if I have it was a long time ago and I've forgotten... but one thing's for sure; Stephen King films are always great stories... so if this one wasn't, it only suggests that it got lost in translation the first time round... but it looks like they've done better this time round Smile In other words I'll be interested to see what the meat of this story actually is, because most Stephen King films have very original storylines.

This one has the benefit of not being made for TV and being made in an era of fantastic special effects.

I didn't like it. Jack-in-the-box cheap thrills the first half, and totally missed the coming-of-age vibe of the book.

No big loss, it was still a good evening.
