More "mysterious ways" horseshit, no doubt!

I'm sure of it now, you are heartless.

Pointing out the failings of an "all loving" deity does not make anyone heartless.

I feel for the families and the victims, as much as anyone else.

But we have to wonder why a god would let this happen and why his followers proclaim "miracles" when someone is pulled from the rubble but are silent on things like this?

Or why, as Min pointed out, they often justify it with, "mysterious ways", "his mind is unfathomable to us", or any one of a dozen or more empty phrases.

I also keep hearing that natural disasters are punishment.  Then why do the innocent, the believers suffer?

Wellington, where I currently live, is considered one of the most atheist capital cities in the world, and is also on a number of seismic faults.  But, instead of punishing the atheists, using the above statements, he practically destroyed a city named after his son, "Christchurch", and destroyed a cathedral for which the city was famous.

I'll say it now, and I'll say it honestly. I will happily accept suffering and death, if it means nobody else ever has to.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

Okay. Don't say I didn't offer.

Why do believers suffer?

they didn't send enough money to the 700 Club
The granting of a pardon is an imputation of guilt, and the acceptance a confession of it.

One not having a bleeding heart for a fictional concept does not make one heartless.

He couldn't have cared less that people died, he's heartless.

Min couldn't care less about the family who suffered during this natural disaster, that was just that. Christians who claim God causes a disaster that takes anyone's life are making assumption based on their lack of understanding God, most of that stuff comes from their own desires, unfortunately.
God being omnipresent means He has a knowledge that comes from being there and knowing what He wants in His plans.

Or your pet god is, for allowing it to happen. Or equally, not preventing it. Either way, what a tiny, weak, pathetic god you have. I could crush it beneath my shoe.

What do you expect God to do, save everyone from everything so they will live forever, if He did that this world would be overpopulated. God says one should fear the One who can separate the marrow from the bone and spirit from the body.
