I think that the Democrats should run on a platform of defending the status quo, namely, health care. After all, how much reform is there left to do in the US? At some point progressive causes have to come to end, and when that happens, the Democrats will become the conservatives.
Isn't that what Hillary ran on, before she lost horribly. We still have a ways to go on progressive issues. Honestly, there's always room for improvement, so I doubt progressive causes will ever end, and yes the current establishment democrats are basically republicans at this point.

Letting folks with polling approvals in the mid single digits decide the direction the party should take seems like a REALLY bad idea to me, but what do I know ??
I do also wonder if the right people with single digit polling approvals are making those decisions. If we're going to have folks that unpopular deciding shit, maybe we should select them more carefully.
Is Pol Pot still alive ??

Less than 10 incumbents were defeated last time around. As long as the electorate remains stupid - and 2016 suggests that it is getting worse instead of better - I see little hope for the future.

Keep Hope Alive! Some conservative Senators will be dying off here soon; out of respect for the soon-to-be-dead, I will not mention their names. One is, however, from the State of Iowa.

So what?
They'll find another nazi douchebag to replace him. The problem is the voters, not the politicians.

The People of Iowa voted for Harkin, a left winger for decades, and now, 2 nut-jobs. Whoever gets in, stays in; but, I don't think anyone is as big of a nut-job as Grassley. Besides, it will take that person, even if they are a right-winger, over a decade to rise to prominence within the Senate.

The Dems should run on the platform that they will rescind everything that Trump does.

Steve King, I can assure you, is way worse than Grassley.
BTW, I met Joni Ernst at a do not that long ago. Gave a nice 'generic' talk on how well folks at the rural/county/small town level are doing and AVOIDED entirely any mention of any issue that might rattle ANYONE'S (including me) cage.
It was like strained Gerber carrots made audible, not a burp in a barrel.
She had police protection too, Idunno why, but I found it hysterical given the nature of her remarks . . .
