Question for those who read Terry Brooks' Sword of Shannara books

Question for those who read Terry Brooks' Sword of Shannara books
So, in case you didn't know, a television show was made from these books, and the second season just started.

I never read the books, but I have a question I'd like answered that the show has not yet answered.

What is the deal with fantasy's usual inhabitants, elves and trolls and etc, residing in a post human world? Is it just something the writer decided to do that was different than typical fantasy portraying its inhabitants as having existed prehuman existence?

I read those ages and ages and ages ago.

I thought it was a neat twist when it was revealed that it was our world but thousands of years from now. I suppose the writer thought so, too!

So it is that simple. Thank you. Smile
