A truck was used in the last mass killing in New York last week. But never the less, I think we can hold off on the gun control politics for just a few hours.

I don't think we can. Not any more. Seriously, how many fucking shooting sprees does it take before people see we have a huge fucking problem that needs to be addressed. Not in a few hours, day, weeks, months or (probably) years, but right fucking now.

On the Broncos message board I'm a member of, someone made a comment that they were going to go read up on the latest mass shooting to cheer up after the loss. The sad part is not that his comment was crass and in poor taste, but that it wasn't shocking. We've become inured to these massacres and waiting to have the discussion will do nothing to make it better.

It's always the gun rights people who say that we shouldn't bring up gun control politics right after a shooting like this. We should wait and have respect for the victims and wait until we're thinking clearly and wait and wait.

Those people never seem to realize that when they say let's hold off on the politics, that they're the ones being defensive about the status quo. They're such cowards. Better to have incidents like this happen every week (and many many lesser incidents that never make national news each day) than -heaven forbid- the government adopt tighter restrictions on the weapons available to the public.

The 2nd Amendment has nothing to do with well-regulated militias anymore, nor patriotism, and not much to do with personal protection. It has to do with the rubes of this country liking guns. The rest of us are paying in blood for you idiots to maintain your precious hobby. Cowards, all of you.
