The most important thing to do for the next generation is to, you know, actually create the next generation. This generation doesn't want to be bothered doing that.

That is bizarre indeed.
Atheists worship physical science like a religion.
Science says that energy never die so to speak but consciousness is made of energy so why atheists believe in permanent death?
This only shows how atheism is full of contradictions.

sure a consciousness can be made again

but to think you're going to end up conscious forever or be conscious again (with the exact memories and structure as your existing brain) is just being silly as there is no evidence of this at all, just your imagination

energy changes all the time, your consciousness is not going to "die" permanently, it's going to "change" into something else, permanently

Yeah I agree there is some truth to the picture, the meme just exaggerates quite a bit for the sake of humour.

As you can see the stats in your link shows "1-2" where the pic shows "an abortion (0 children?) and a dog"

Yes, that's what memes are for.

Then you're just blowing wind to make yourself feel like you have a purpose.

Seems pretty unlikely that your "dreams and hopes" - like "the end of religion has come" - are going to be realized in future generations if those future generations are created by people with very different dreams and hopes.

RE: Trascending through time
If one needed offspring in order to have purpose, then that would create an infinite series of people needing to procreate to have purpose. And what happens when the last human dies childless -- wouldn't that make the whole exercise meaningless?

I think it's better to look for purpose in oneself, in the present moment. That's where we actually live, after all.
