NFL 2017 Pick'em League!
RE: NFL 2017 Pick'em League!
I think that rule somewhat conflicts with the idea that the ground can't cause a fumble. He clearly had possession of the ball prior to hitting the ground. When he thrust the ball over the goal line, in a perfect world, he should have been treated as a runner. But the rule isn't written to take into account such subtleties. This has come up before this season, where receivers clearly had possession of the football, but lost possession when they hit the ground. Unfortunately it's hard to see revising the rule as that would lead to a lot of ambiguity and subjective calls.

In other news..... The Packers have been eliminated from playoff contention. Yahoo! I hope the Packers rest Rodgers this Saturday instead of playing him and risking re-injury, but I don't think we'll be that lucky. It seems entirely plausible that Rodgers might want some payback for giving him the broken collarbone in the first place. Regardless, even though the Packers have nothing on the line with Saturday's game, I doubt they'll play that way. It looks to be one of the best games of week 16. I'm just glad we don't have to deal with the Packers this year. I think we can handle Detroit.

Thank you. You know, I can write poetry, debate theism, but couldn't really put my argument in these words.

I really do get what the other side are saying, but you basically said what I was arguing.

In other news, the Skins still SUCK!

The ground can cause a fumble though. If a player catches a ball, establishes themselves as a runner, and trips or somehow goes to the ground without being touched by a member of the defense and the balls pops out as it hits the ground, that's a fumble...caused by the ground.

There's an easy solution. Keep control of the ball when you hit the ground.

Meh. Steelers played really well. It was a good game. Ball just wiggled a bit. Shit happens. It's happened to us more times than I care to remember.
