Congratulations Brian, you are the first person I have ever heard bitch about the NFL first-down marker. I HAVE heard of many non-football fans who got a sudden understanding of the game from that graphic. Also, thank you for cluing us in that it's a graphic added to the video feed and that there isn't really a magic yellow line on the field. Other possible things to bitch about: Angled Parking Spaces Water is Wet Why Does the Sky have to be Blue? I want Purple! The Upper Brake Light Required on US Cars is STUPID! Divided Road Medians SUCK! I'm sure there are many other things worth whipping ourselves into a frenzy for. Geeze, Brian. Stop and smell the roses once in a while. AND WATCH OUT FOR THOSE FUCKING THORNS!!!
Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former.

Also annoying are people who buy Teslas thinking they're saving the environment and smugly telling everyone about the wonders of electric cars, even though the carbon footprint of a new vehicle, especially one shipped at a distance, is probably bigger than the fumes you'd pump out by about 10 years of running your old Chevy Impala, and even though the electricity to POWER the damned cars very likely came from burning coal. To be honest, having the latest technology in media in general does kind of irk me, if only because it dates it immediately. Case in point, Kieslowski's Decalogue is an excellent series, ten stories, one based around one of the Ten Commandments, and holding up remarkably better than one would expect something made in the days before Communism fell in Poland. Seriously, it feels like almost every story could happen in Chicago today (at least if you ignore that the death penalty has been abolished in Illinois, so 5 loses its power.) The one exception to this is the first one: "Thou Shalt Have No Other Gods." In this case, the God is a computer. And the computer is probably the best the Eastern Bloc could buy in 1988. And except for an early attempt at making a Smart Home in a Warsaw tenement flat, it just does some physics equations I could probably program into my TI-83. It's still good, but you can really tell when it was made. It's nowhere near as horrible an example as a lot of things, but it's why I prefer to not put new technology in my stories.

Soap Operas don't accurately represent reality, that's kind of the point; to get lost in the fantasy. I remember when I was younger and I always watched Young & The Restless with my grandmother. Hope and her evil twin, and how evil Stefan never died no matter how many times they tried to kill him.
I see no reason about getting bothered by the scenario you mentioned in the original post, however. Unless you just want to gripe for the sake of it.

I’m quite upset to find that most soap opera’s have very little singing, let alone of the quality they advertise. If they are going to call it a soap opera, the big media should have to deliver what they say!

To me, opera largely seems to consist of a fat man and a fat woman bellowing at each other in some language (probably Italian) for about 45 minutes, merely to observe that the sun has risen. Boru
